All,
Our game next Tuesday is at Half Moon Bay golf club.
As I'm just past Rudesheim on the Rhine I've no idea of what the course is like, but hope you have a great day! Weather here is fine but cool, so hope you keep dry there.

Next Game Gordonvale 25 Sep
All,
Our next game is at Gordonvale golf club & is the final round for the Consistency trophy.
The course is in quite good condition, with plenty of run. However, heavy leaf litter in places can make finding balls a bit tough, so keep your eyes peeled. Some greens look like they have been top dressed but are playing quite well. There is no water in the drains, but some fairly thick rough in them in places instead - you can't have it too easy!
Sponsor for the day is Bendigo Bank.
I'll be away on my European trip till 16 Oct, but will try to keep this blog up to date throughout. However, we are coming up to a period where a number of committee members will be away at the same time, so if you think you will be able to assist us with the running of comps in any way between now & the end of the season, please contact us. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated so we can continue the smooth running of our comps.
Enjoy Gordonvale.

Report
We had a
poor field of 100, including 15 ladies, which was surprising as
although the day started off overcast on the coast, it turned into a
lovely clear warm day on the Tablelands. The course was in good
condition with plenty of run & the greens were slick, which
didn't help the ball to stop when required!
Thanks
to TGT Hardware for sponsoring the day & to Jenny for looking
after the catering well as usual.
Welcome
to visitors Gordon Redding & Del Spicer of Mareeba, Kevin Whyte
of Whale Back Seniors, Perth, WA, & Mike Wille of Rosebud Country
Club, Vic.
This was
the final round for the Ted Thomasson trophy & our next game is
the final Consistency round. We hope to have the results of all
trophies on the blog & emailed out by the end of October,
although the Championship results may be out before that.
Our next
game is a single stableford at Gordonvale.
See you there.

The
course was in good condition with plenty of run & although there
were a few bare patches on the greens, they were not in positions
which affected us much & the greens ran true. Congratulations to

brisk breeze getting up later in the morning. We had a field of 94,

Suggested Rule Changes for Seniors - Wish on!
NB These suggested rules were obviously formulated during a lengthy session in the bar after a bad round & are not to be acted upon until confirmed by the R&A!
Rule 1.a.5
A ball sliced or hooked into the rough shall be lifted and placed on the fairway at a point equal to the distance it carried or rolled into the rough with no penalty. The senior should not be penalized for tall grass which ground keepers failed to mow.
Rule 2. d .6 (B)
A ball hitting a tree shall be deemed not to have hit the tree. This is simply bad luck and luck has no place in a scientific game. The senior player must estimate the distance the ball would have travelled if it had not hit the tree and play the ball from there.
Rule 3.B.3(G)
There shall be no such thing as a lost ball. The missing ball is on or near the course and will eventually be found and pocketed by someone else, making it a stolen ball. The player is not to compound the felony by charging himself or herself with a penalty.
Rule 4. c .7( h )
If a putt passes over a hole without dropping, it is deemed to have dropped. The law of gravity supersedes the Rules of Golf.
Rule 5.
Putts that stop close enough to the cup that they could be blown in, may be blown in. This does not apply to balls more than three inches from the hole. No one wants to make a travesty of the game.
Rule 6.a.9( k )
There is no penalty for so-called "out of bounds." If penny-pinching golf course owners bought sufficient land, this would not occur. The senior golfer deserves an apology, not a penalty.
Rule 7..G.15( z )
There is no penalty for a ball in a water hazard, as golf balls should float. Senior golfers should not be penalized for manufacturers' shortcomings.
Rule 8. k .9( S)
Advertisements claim that golf scores can be improved by purchasing new golf equipment. Since this is financially impractical for many senior golfers, one-half stroke per hole may be subtracted for using old equipment.
