BABINDA RESULTS TUESDAY 28 JULY

Babinda receives an average annual rainfall of about 4,279.4 millimeters (168.5 inches) and duly claims the Golden Gumboot,  48mm of that fell in the last 24 hours and of that,  only about 4mm fell while 36 FNQVGA (32men and 4 ladies) played the second of the Patrons Trophy. The winner in the mens has some credentials for wet weather play- just watch the second game of the 1984 State of Origin series!

The Babinda course is a testament to what like minded people can do when they pull together. The course is in excellent condition and the hospitality is second to none- all we need is for the weather to cooperate now.

MAREEBA RESULTS TUESDAY 21 JULY.

A reasonable roll up of 57 FNQVGA golfers (46 men and 11 ladies) including Noel Rawlins a visitor from Surfers Paradise enjoyed great condition on the Mareeba Golf Course this morning. The 4 Tee start was met with unanimous  approval.  The morning started off clear and calm but the predicted change came through at about 10.30 when the increase in wind speed made the second half more challenging.  Thanks to the Mareeba hospitality especially jack of all trades, Brian who look after bar, buggies and lunch with aplomb

We understand that this is the last time we will experience  Mareeba under the control of Greens Super Karl. We wish you every success in your future ventures.

RESULTS GORDONVALE TUESDAY 14 JULY 2026

A most glorious winters day in Gordonvale this morning attracted 61 FNQVGA golfers (40 men and 16 ladies) in support of Cath Coverdale's trophies. Thanks Cath, you are a great supporter.

Thanks to the crew at the Gordonvale Club, Ellie and Erin in the clubhouse for being most attentive to our needs. And also to the Green keeping team for their excellent presentation of  the course.

We had two new members today Steve Wilton and Ian Duncan from Half Moon Bay and Wayne Langtree from Gordonvale returned to the fold. This brings our membership up to 175 for the year so far.

We would also like to thank the eager team of helpers, ably lead by master organizer,  Garry Castle, who answered the call and helped a distressed fellow member who had suffered the inconvenience of a a flat battery in his "Palais de wheels" in the club car park. With a minimum of fuss the chariot gushed back to life and was last seen heading north on the Cairns Southern Access Corridor.

PATRONS TROPHY R 1 INNISFAIL RESULTS

Harry Vardon would have been very proud of the small band of golfing tragics (29 men and 4 ladies) who took on the Innisfail Golf Course this morning. Vardon was known for his brevity, and we will attempt that here. Because of the reduced numbers, we played a medley stableford. Neal Arnott won with 34 points from Daniel Cox on 31 points on a countback from Ron Blake also on 31 points. Everyone who was at the presentations received  a ball.

Thanks to the Innisfail Golf Club and it's members  for the use of your course and especially your golf carts. Your hospitality is very much appreciated.

PATRONS TROPHY INNISFAIL TUESDAY 30 JUNE

" No true golfer is satisfied with a little of the game, if there is no substantial reason why                        he(she)  should should not have much of it"   Harry Vardon "The Complete Golfer" 1905

The Patrons Trophy series commences this Tuesday 30 June at the Innisfail Golf Club. The Trophy is played at the three 9 hole courses we visit during the year, Innisfail, Babinda and Millaa Millaa. The winner has the best aggregate stableford score for the three courses. Innisfail is the only course, technically,  out of our region that we visit.

This year, to elevate the social aspect of our weekly game, it has been decided to use a shotgun start at 8am ( or there abouts), nominations open from 7.30am. To assist the match committee to start you on the right tee,  could you clearly mark on your card if you are a walker 'W' or carter 'C'.   Patience would also be appreciated!

HALF MOON BAY RESULTS TUESDAY 16 2026

A glorious day for golf today and 69 FNQVGA golfers (53 men and 16 ladies) took full advantage of this great winter weather. Thanks to everyone at the Yorkeys Knob club for your great hospitality-your course is looking and playing just great.

Our sponsor today was Drummond Golf Cairns. Thanks to Darren and his team in Arthur Street for your support. Just a  reminder that the vouchers received by the victorious today have a finite 30 day shelf life. So get along to Drummond and spend it!

We would also like to thank the HMB Deep Water Retrieval Team for locating and retrieving a waywardly directed 6 iron from one of the ponds today. The thrower claims it slipper out of his grip. You be the judge from the look on his face when it was returned by VPres Neal Arnott

Kenny got his 6 iron back.
