President's Report & Results Gordonvale 27 Nov

President's Report &
Results of the Single Stableford
Played on 27th November 2012
at Gordonvale Golf Club
130 Players

President's Report

We had a good field of 102 men & 28 ladies at Gordonvale for our AGM & shotgun start & most stayed on for the annual Presentation of trophies. The course was in good condition with plenty of run & the windy conditions that got up later did not stop some good scores being returned.

Thanks to Tom Bryce who set up the board for us & posted scores after the game, Kim & the bar staff who looked after us & prepared the sandwiches & to all who stayed for the trophy presentation after the game. Thanks also to Melody from Savannah Lifestyle Resorts, who sponsored the day & stayed to present the day's prizes.

Welcome to visitors Rob Blackman of Maryborough, Shizuka Ueda of Half Moon Bay & Katrine Nash from Drummond Golf who played & presented the Drummond prize.

Our next game is also a shotgun start at 8.30am 2 ball Ambrose at Cairns golf club, sponsored by Easylift & is followed by our Xmas breakup lunch. Cost for the day is $32 for members & $35 for visitors which includes the meal, which will be served at the tables. Choose your partners or we will choose them for you!

Look forward to seeing you there.

President's Report

Considering some members were still away on holidays & all our competitions are finished for the year, we had a reasonable field of 88 men & 11 ladies at Atherton. The course was in good condition & although it was hot with a storm predicted for later in the day, we got around without any rain & little wind.

Thanks to Owen & Debbie for looking after us well as usual & the club for sponsoring the event.

Welcome to visitors Rob Blackman of Maryborough & Brian Wright, Shirley Cook, Greg Coffey & Fred Laurenson of Atherton.

Our next game is a shotgun start at 8.30am single stableford at Gordonvale golf club, sponsored by Savannah Lifestyle Resorts.

After the game, as last year, there will be the presentation of our various trophies, so please support our winners by staying if you can.

President's Report & Results Babinda 13 Nov

President's Report &
Results of the Single Stableford
Played on 13th November 2012
at Babinda Golf Club
75 Players

President's Report

A good field of 62 men & 13 ladies turned up for the final round of the Patron's Trophy at Babinda. The course was in great condition with new greens from last year & although there were a few rain showers during the morning. Congratulations to the volunteers who maintain the course & to the ladies for the catering.

Wal Anthony sponsored the day by providing a desk & tables for the winners, which were greatly appreciated. Many thanks to Wal.

Welcome to visitors Matt Lock & Ray Smith of Babinda.

Our next game is a single stableford at Atherton golf club, sponsored by the club.

Look forward to seeing you there.

My apologies for this late report & results. I was competing (dismally) in the Australian Veteran's National Championship on the Mornington Peninsular with a good contingent of our members, but the internet connection down there was awful. The weather was beautiful if cool & all enjoyed the courses played, Rosebud, Moonah Links, the Dunes & the National. I believe Roger & June collected prizes & we'll hear more from them at Atherton I'm sure.

Thanks to Claud for filling in for me & for the other committee members who held the fort whilst we were slogging our way round the Mornington Peninsular.

Next Game Babinda 13 Nov

All,

The next game is at Babinda on Tuesday.

It is the final round of the Patron's trophy, but even if you missed playing at Millaa, Babinda is a nice little 9 hole course with some challenging holes, so roll up & have a great day.

Wal Anthony has again donated 3 tables he made for prizes, of different pattern to last year's, which looked fantastic.

Cheers, Louis

President's Report & Results Mareeba 5 November

President's Report &
Results of the Single Stableford
Played on 5th November 2012
at Mareeba Golf Club
103 Players

President's Report

We didn't have as good a field as normal, probably because of the game being on a Monday to avoid Melbourne Cup, but 85 Men & 18 Ladies enjoyed a beautiful day with the course in good condition with plenty of run.

Many thanks to TGT Hardware for sponsoring the day & to Jenny for the catering.

Welcome to visitors Rob Blackman from Maryborough, Fay Hayles of Half Moon Bay, Gordon Redding & Del Spicer of Mareeba.

Our game next Tuesday is a single stableford at Babinda, which is the final round of the Patron's Trophy.  Wal Anthony has generously donated tables again for the first prizes, but different models from last year.

As I will be at the Veteran Golfers Nationals on Mornington Peninsular, Claud Clark will be kindly standing in for me, ably supported by Colin Johannsen, Col McDowall & Russ Gill, although he may 'volunteer' some others!

We are still looking for someone to act as Treasurer next year, as Col McDowall is standing down after 9 years in various committee positions.  As you know, this is a most important position & nominations are required by 13 Nov, ie handed in at Babinda, or sent to my email by midnight that day (lsiedle@gmail.com).

Please give some thought about taking on this job.  You will be ably supported by Col & others if you need time off for any reason.

Next Game Mareeba 5 November

All,

Just a reminder that our next game is on MONDAY at Mareeba (Tues is Melbourne Cup).

I've been advised the course is in good condition & after this dry spell you can bet the greens will be fast.

See you there.
