President's Report & Results 19 Mar at Half Moon Bay

President's Report & Results
of the Single Stableford Competition
Played on 19th March 2013
at Half Moon Bay Golf Club
142 Players

President's Report

The course was suffering from less than normal rainfall with greens having had to be hand watered, but it was the same for all & the caterers were in good form, so thanks to the club for looking after a big field.

The weather looked a bit uncertain, but cleared up to a fine day, if humid, which did not deter a good field of 121 men & 21 women.

Welcome to visitors Jeff Harmer of Half Moon Bay & our sponsor's representative, Rusty Ellis of Brothers Leagues Club.  Many thanks to Brothers Leagues Club & I'm sure the winners will enjoy the meal vouchers there.

Welcome also to new members, Rodney Painter of Half Moon Bay, Russell Edwards, of Cairns, Peter Handley of Gordonvale, & Alec Ford & Jeff Murray of Mossman. Our membership for the year now stands at 216.

If you are looking for a game next week, the Tablelands Summer of Golf has an event at Atherton on Tuesday 26th March.

Our next game is at Mareeba on 2nd April, so hope that it is dry & to see you there.

PS - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE,  We need FULL golf link numbers & home club noted on the score cards.  Your first name as well as surname would also help, as if you stuff up your golf link number (which happens too often), it helps to find you in Golflink.

Next Game Half Moon Bay 19 Mar

All,

Our game next Tuesday is at Half Moon Bay & is a Single Stableford, which is the first of our Consistency events.

I'm told the course hasn't been getting much rain & they've been hand watering some greens, so you may find your approaches run on a bit!  That may change if the low brings some rain in.

June also advises that she will be running the raffle again, so even if you don't play too well, you can play for a ticket at your partners' expense!

See you there.

President's Report & Results 5 Mar at Atherton

President's Report &
Results of the VSS Competition
Played on 5th March 2013
at Atherton Golf Club
58 Players

President's Report

Despite the forecast for the weather to mirror yesterday, ie clear in the morning with rain coming in later in the afternoon, a considerable number of wimps must have disbelieved it, expected to get wet & stayed away today!

This resulted in a poor field of 8 ladies & 50 men who enjoyed a pleasant day with no rain on a course in good condition, especially considering the amount of rain that had fallen there yesterday. Well done the greens staff. As a result of the low numbers, prizes were awarded in only 2 divisions.

Thanks to Owen & Debbie for looking after us & keeping up with the sandwiches. Thanks also to the club for sponsoring the event.

Welcome to 10 renewing members & to one new one, Barry Shaw of Half Moon Bay. Our membership so far for this year stands at 181.

Our next game is at Half Moon Bay golf club on 19th March, but if you can't wait that long, the next Tablelands Summer of Golf game is at Millaa Millaa on 12th March.

Next Game Atherton 5 March

All,

Our game next Tuesday is at Atherton golf club & is a VSS (also known as par or plusses & minuses round).

ie If you get a par on a hole you have a stroke on, you mark it as a +,  if you get a bogey you mark it as a o, & if a double bogey, as a -.  Instructions will be available at registration.

The synoptic weather chart seems to indicate that the present trend will continue of clear, if humid, in the morning with rain coming in after noon.  Atherton advises that the course is fine after a big downpour today (Monday pm).

See you there.
