President's Report & Results Cairns 26 July
Today was the first round of the Ted
Stanton/Bob Bailey memorial trophy which is awarded to the male
player who has the best nett score over 3 stroke rounds, two of which
must be the club championship rounds.
There were 108 players in the field, 89
men & 19 ladies, and although scoring was difficult the Cairns
course was found to be in excellent condition with very slippery
greens.
The sponsor today is DEBORAH DUFFY

for providing the pro shop vouchers that the winners and runners up
received.

President's Report & Results Millaa Millaa 19 July
Unfortunately the
weather gods were very much against us today and only 36 men and 5
women made the trip to Millaa Millaa for the first round of the Patrons trophy. The weather deteriorated as the round progressed and
so the reluctant decision was made to declare the event a 9 holer.
I
am not sure at this stage if this will still count for the patrons
trophy but it seems fitting that those bravehearts who made the
effort should be rewarded. We will wait and see what the committee
and of course, the Patron think about this.
It is my pleasure
to welcome 3 new members to our fold, they are Graeme Chappel from
Cairns, John Hall from Warburton and David Marshall from Mullumbimby.
The sponsor today
was DRUMMOND GOLF of Cairns and we thank them for the store
vouchers on offer today.

President's Report & Results Gordonvale 12 July
We were pleased
to have 85 men and 21 women start at Gordonvale course today. The
game was a stableford event for the annual consistency trophy.
The sponsor for
the event was CAZALY’S AFL CLUB who donated the venue
vouchers for todays winners, so you can well imagine my
disappointment as president, when some of our people insisted on
wearing rugby league attire, one poor confused soul even being seen
wearing both the maroon and the blue jersey at different times
during the day. Perhaps we should have a collection and buy Mr Gibb a
Suns jersey.
Seriously, a big
thank you to Cazalys for the interest they have shown in Veterans
golf.

Next Game Gordonvale 12 July
All,
Our game next week is a single stableford Consistency event at Gordonvale.
The course is looking good, with the drains mowed (but still to be avoided as water is hanging around in places, mainly under the bridges), & although the greens are still a work in progress, they are tracking well.
Sponsor for the day is Cazalys AFL.
See you there.

Next Game Atherton 5 July
All,
Our game next week is a single stableford event at Atherton for the Ted Thomasson trophy.
The game is sponsored by Golf World.
As we've had a few fine days which look like continuing, the course should be in good condition.
Everyone will no doubt be looking forward to a little light relief after the marathon election campaign, so we should see good numbers there!
