President's Report & Results Gordonvale 28 Nov

Today was certainly our busiest day of the year beginning with the Annual General Meeting at 8 AM.
The incoming committee is as follows;
President Greg Gibb.
Vice President Robin Tonks.
Captain Russ Gill,
Vice Captain Wal Anthony,
Treasurer John Everall,
Secretary Lou Siedle,
Committee Chris Everall,
Lois Tait.
Andrina Wilson.

The other noteworthy thing out of the AGM was the unanimous vote to award life membership to Shirley Fieldhouse and Claud Clark. These two people have been stalwarts of our club for many years and it gives me great pleasure to achieve this during my term as president. We have prepared certificates to present next Tuesday.

After the meeting a field of 67 men and 14 ladies headed out for a 4ball better ball stableford shotgun start. In the place of the usual golf shop vouchers we gave store vouchers for Coles/ Myer and a host of other retailers including Kmart, Katies and a few liquor outlets, so don't be shy in letting the committee people know what you think of this idea.

The sponsor today was CAPE YORK ACCOUNTING and the winners and runners up received vouchers to enjoy the hospitality at BROTHERS LEAGUES CLUB. I thank both these organizations for their continued support of veterans golf.

President's Report & Results Mareeba 6 Nov

The field of 70 (14 ladies & 56 men) was a little less than we usually hope for at Mareeba but I suppose that is because it is Monday and some will be having a long weekend with family. Nevertheless the course has benefited from recent rains and is very green considering we are well into the normally driest time of the year.

The sponsor today was GOLF WORLD of Cairns and the winners and runners up received store vouchers which they will hopefully put towards some new “score lowering” equipment.

I remind members that our Annual General Meeting is to be held on 28th November prior to a shotgun start at Gordonvale Golf Club, so if you enjoy “vets” as much as I do, now is the time to consider serving on our committee. We have not had any representation from the tableland clubs for a few years now so think about it guys and girls. Nomination forms will be available in the coming weeks.

RESULTS.

MENS DIV 1 WINNER; Tim Hollman 41 points.
RUNNER UP; Ken Baker 39 points.

MENS NTP; 4th Ross White, 8th Tim Hollman, 11th Bob Billingham. 13th no one was good enough.

Next Game Mareeba MONDAY 6 Nov

All,

In recovery from jetlag, hence this late reminder that the next game is on MONDAY at Mareeba.

The course is still dry, so plenty of run, and is otherwise in good condition.  Gaby is expecting us, so you can be sure some of her apple turnovers will be available.

The game is sponsored by Golf World.

See you there.
