President Report & Results for Atherton Golf Club 25 June 19
PRESIDENT
REPORT – ATHERTON GOLF CLUB 25 Jun 19
Hi
Members,
Today`s
game was a 2Ball Ambrose event at ATHERTON Golf Club which provided
some very interesting scores highlighted in results below. There were
75 starters consisting of 64 men & 11 ladies. The course was in
very good condition, a credit to the greens staff. Many thanks to
Cheryl for getting us going in the extremely “brisk” weather this
morning. Tony the cook also looked after us with his simple but very
effective menu.
Our
sponsor today was CAPE YORK ACCOUNTING and now is the perfect
time for our members to utilise their skills to assist us in getting
a return at tax time, they come highly recommended.
Special
mention in today`s game was a hole in one by George Kyriazis
on the 11th hole. Congratulations George, bring us your
ball and we will get it mounted appropriately ASAP.
Next
weeks game will be at HALF MOON BAY GOLF CLUB, hope to see you all
there

five new members, Alan Dale Cairns, Steve Pawliw Yallourn, Keith

welcome back guys.
The
course has improved dramatically since our last game which augers
well for the club and their members. Many thanks to Kim for the early
morning beverages and arranging all of the carts for our members. The
weather has now turned for the better and I predict fine weather from
now on until the summer rains return, there I have said it out loud.
Our
sponsor today was the REEF CASINO who have supported the FNQVGA all
year and their management is to be congratulated, many of our members
frequent the Casino on a regular basis myself included.
Next
weeks game will be a very interesting two person Ambrose at ATHERTON
GOLF CLUB so arrange your partner and hope to see you all there.

Next Game Gordonvale 18 June
All,
Our next game is a single stableford Consistency event at Gordonvale.
The course is in reasonable condition apart from the greens, which have shown little improvement. Drains have been mowed apart from the base of the drain on 13, but still have quite thick grass on the sides & some water around the bridges.
We have also been advised that Council are scheduled to be dredging the drains on Monday & perhaps also on Tuesday, so you will need to check on the day for any special local rules.
See you there.

President Report for Mirage Country Club 14 Jun 19
PRESIDENT
REPORT – MIRAGE COUNTRY CLUB 14 Jun 19
Hi
Members,
Today`s
game was a single stableford event at the MIRAGE COUNTRY CLUB as a
“one-off” game away from our 2019 Program. There were 81 starters
consisting of 59 men & 22 ladies. This game has been arranged
for 3 months and finally came to fruition today as planned by the
FNQVGA Committee. Even though preferred lies were in place the course
was superb and the weather even better. Many thanks to Geoff Peard
and his team at Mirage for welcoming us to his course at a reduced
rate and for the early morning coffee which seems to get us off and
running with zesto.
There
was no sponsor today and prizes were only provided as a result of the
Vets members who supported the club by purchasing raffle tickets
($200) in a lead up to the game thus enabling us to be self
sufficient for this game only. Many thanks to Andrina for not only
pushing the raffle tickets under your noses but for also donating 4
doz golf balls to assist in prizes.
All
players assisted in making this a great day today by being on time
and were more than happy to get involved and work together to achieve
the 0800 start time. Well done to you all and a great day was had by
everyone because of this.
There
was a hearing aid piece handed in but not claimed at presentation, if
lost, the item has been left with the club.
Next
weeks game will be at GORDONVALE GOLF CLUB hope to see you all there.

President Report & Results for Mareeba 11 June
PRESIDENT
REPORT – MAREEBA GOLF CLUB 11 Jun 19
Hi
Members,
Today`s
game was a single stableford event at MAREEBA Golf Club, there were
84 starters consisting of 75 men & 9 ladies. There was one
new/old member, Mike Blunt from Mareeba Golf Club, welcome back Mike.
The course and weather were absolutely perfect and many thanks to
Gabi and Deb for the early morning coffee and getting us moving in
the right direction, also to Rod Cade and his merry men for the
excellent condition of the course.
Our
sponsor today was Brothers Leagues Club and feedback from our members
was only positive when visiting their establishment, Brothers support
to the Vets is much appreciated by all.
Everything
is in readiness for the Mirage game on this Friday, there is a field
of 84 so punctuality is paramount as players need to be registered by
0730 for a 0800 shotgun start. Drive to the front door, drop off your
golf bags (Mirage staff will move them), park your car then return to
advise the committee of your arrival at the registration desk
upstairs. You will be advised of your group, cart number &
starting hole. There will be no need to pre-order food as there will
be sandwiches & hot food available at the club. Should be a great
day and we may try to negotiate a game at Mirage within our 2020
program albeit more likely to be on a Friday.
Next
weeks game will be at GORDONVALE GOLF CLUB hope to see you all there.

Next Game Mareeba 11 June
All,
Our next game is a single stableford Consistency event at Mareeba.
I'm told that they have not had the rain we have had down here, so the course should be in fine condition & Gaby is expecting us, so there should be some apple turnovers available for those in early enough.
The game is sponsored by Brothers Leagues Club.
See you there.

Report & Results Cairns 4 June
All,
A beautiful sunny day with a cool wind brought out 103 players to Cairns golf club, 81 men & 22 ladies.
We had 3 membership renewals & welcomed new members Rod Blackman from Mirage CC, Don Freeman from HMB, Kathleen & Gordon Smith from Riverview, Vic, and Les Tenny from Atherton, bringing membership for the year to date to 199.
The Greens staff are to be congratulated on the state of the course, particularly the greens & greatly improved drainage from a couple of years ago. Thanks to Hannah for looking after us at the bar.
We played a single stableford for the second round of the Ted Thomasson trophy, which was sponsored by Stratford Painting Contractors. We thank Gordon Perry for his continued support & if you are looking for some quality painting, do contact him for a quote.
As previously stated the extra game arranged at Mirage on Friday 14 June is now fully booked with a waiting list. We would appreciate anyone who has booked who may be unable to make it to let us know as soon as they become aware of that, so we can move up those on the waiting list.
