PRESIDENT REPORT – HALF MOON BAY GOLF CLUB 24 Sep 19

Hi Members,

Today`s game was something different a 4B aggregate event at Half Moon Bay Golf Club with another excellent turnout as there were 106 starters consisting of 78 men & 28 ladies. There were two new members, Tony Calcutt from Ravenshoe and Wayne Langtree from Gordonvale, welcome guys. The course was in very good condition which is par for the course at HMBGC, congrats to all of the staff both inside and outside the clubhouse especially as today is the clubs 50th birthday and still going strong.

Our sponsor today was once again the REEF CASINO, a first year sponsor with the Vets and hopefully will continue on in 2020. To all of our members please support all of our sponsors as they support us throughout the year.

The monster raffle was drawn today with many prizes handed out, in particular the main prize of 1 nights accommodation for two at the REEF Casino including breakfast for two at the Tamarind Gardens Restaurant went to George Kyriazis a staunch member of the vets. I have a list of raffle prize winners that were not present at today`s presentations and prizes will be available at Mareeba next week, please see me to see if your name was drawn out. Thanks to all of the prize donors, all members for supporting this cause and to Andrina for pushing the tickets under everyone`s nose. Roughly $500 was raised to assist the subsidy to members for the end of year luncheon/presentation day at Cairns GC.

Next weeks game will be a stableford event at MAREEBA Golf Club with Brothers Leagues Club as the sponsor, hope to see you all there.

Btw Mareeba have their Mitsubishi Classic on 28/29 Sep.  Details from 40921528 or manager@mareebagolfclub.com.au

President Report & results Babinda GC

PRESIDENT REPORT – BABINDA GOLF CLUB 17 Sep 19

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford at BABINDA Golf Club with an excellent turnout for a 9 hole course of 71 starters consisting of 56 men & 15 ladies. There was one visitor, Trevor Warrender from Millaa Millaa. The weather was sensational and it just goes to show why so many people flock to the far north at this time of year. The course was in fairly good condition considering that all workers are volunteers and they all work together to keep Babinda GC a fine venue to play golf.

Many thanks to all of those volunteers at Babinda GC in particular our captain Wal Anthony and his sidekick Tommy Stager for their early morning work on game day as well as the professional sandwich makers inside the clubhouse, much appreciated guys & gals.

Our sponsor today was himself Wal Anthony who provided some fantastic woodwork (coffee tables, chopping boards etc etc) as the daily prizes from Babinda, many thanks Wal we all appreciate your efforts and your dedication. I might add that Wal almost won his own prize today even though he would have passed it on to the next player in line which he did anyway as runner up.

Next weeks game will be a 4B aggregate (add scores together) at HALF MOON BAY Golf Club, if you don`t have a partner don`t worry we will pair you up with a member. The monster raffle will be drawn and all prizes distributed at HMBGC so get along and enjoy the game and pick up a prize or two as there are many prizes to be won.

President Report & results for Cairns GC 10 sep 19

PRESIDENT REPORT – CAIRNS GOLF CLUB 10 Sep 19

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford at CAIRNS Golf Club with once again a very good turnout as there were 102 starters consisting of 76 men & 26 ladies. There was one visitor, Graham Ballantine from Copper Club and one new member Peter Hunt from HMBGC. The course was in excellent condition with plenty of run on the fairways and golfers had to putt smart to score well and judging by the scores below there were plenty of canny golfers out there today.

Many thanks to all the staff at Cairns GC, especially Chloe (bar & food) and Anton (pro shop) for getting us going early up this morning as it was still a bit nippy.

Our sponsor today was STRATFORD PAINTING CONTRACTOR who have been a sponsor throughout 2019 and for those needing any sort of paint job SPC come highly recommended and at a very competetive price. Many thanks to Gordon Perry for your support to the Vets.

Andrina has commenced selling tickets for a monster raffle (flyer attached) which will help reduce costs at our Xmas function in December at Cairns GC. Prizes will be made available to the lucky winners and drawn at Half Moon Bay GC on 24 Sep, many thanks to those members for donating gifts to make this raffle very special.

Special hole in one presentations today were for Graham Real, 8th Cairns on 04 Dec 18 and Bill Matthews, 4th HMB on 23 Jul 19, congratulations guys well done.

Next weeks game will be at BABINDA Golf Club, hope to see you all there.

President report & results for Millaa Millaa

PRESIDENT REPORT – MILLAA MILLAA GOLF CLUB 03 Sep19

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford at the wonderful Millaa Millaa Golf Club, there were 55 starters consisting of 48 men & 7 ladies. There were two visitors, Graham Murray and Greg Taylor from Millaa Millaa.

Today saw some southerners finishing up with the FNQVGA for 2019 and returning home to NSW after enjoying our fantastic weather, Rex & Joy White and Tony Lattimore, safe journeys home and we will catch up with you guys next year.

Many thanks to all the staff at Millaa Millaa GC for having the course in good condition albeit the greens were DEADLY and 3 putts were the norm to the unsuspecting golfers. Most conversations in the clubhouse provided some very descriptive verbs ( I think they were verbs) regarding the greens.

Our sponsor today was CAZALY`s AFL, a great sponsor to the Vets and even better club to visit for those special occasions, appreciated by all members.

No ball run today as all players who remained for the presentations received a ball for supporting the club and there was only one division in mens today due to the low attendance.

Next weeks game will be at CAIRNS Golf Club, hope to see you all there.
