All,
Next Tuesday is our last game for this year & is a single stableford at Cairns GC with a shotgun start at 7.30am.

Cost for the day is $25 per head inclusive of the lunch.
Sponsor for the day is Drummond Golf & we hope to have Darren there as well as a number of other sponsors, so if you find yourself seated with any of them, please make them welcome & thank them for their interest.

Presidents Report & results for Gordonvale Golf Club 26 Nov 19
PRESIDENT
REPORT – GORDONVALE GOLF CLUB 26 Nov 19
Hi
Members,
Today`s
game was a 4BBB stableford event at Gordonvale Golf Club, there were
93 players today consisting of 72 men & 21 ladies. There were two
visitors, Nick & Rhonda Bannerman from Belmont NSW. Today we had
two new members, Keith Winstanley from Cairns GC and Vince Agius from
Gordonvale GC welcome to the Vets gents. The weather was sensational
and the course was in great condition albeit very hard off the
fairways, however, the greens were in very good shape and it showed
that the greens staff have been working hard to get the course back
into shape, well done guys. Thanks to Kim for getting us going on
time and for looking after the multitude of players immediately after
the game as it was a shotgun start as most players finished
simultaneously and flooded the bar.
Our
sponsor today was the REEF CASINO which was their final
sponsored game for this year and their support throughout 2019 has
been invaluable and much appreciated by all FNQVGA members. REEF
CASINO “the only place to play”.
The
2019 FNQVGA AGM was conducted prior to the game with all committee
members being returned for 2020 except for the outgoing Secretary
Louis Siedle who has been a pillar of strength for over 10 years on
the committee, we thank you Louis from the bottom of our hearts and
wish you well for the future in particular the current medical issues
facing you. Our new Secretary is Liz Edmonds aka “the sheriff”,
welcome Liz and I know you will fit in with the committee perfectly.
Congratulations to all committee members for electing to serve
another year, a great team to work with. The membership fee of $10
will remain for 2020 however, weekly green fees will go up to $17
next year as some clubs have lifted their fees.
Next
weeks game will be our final game for 2019 and it will be our Xmas
break up and Presentation day, a 0730 shotgun start, single stableford
game at CAIRNS GC and our sponsor will be Drummond Golf, hope to see
you all there. The cost for the day will be $25 per
head which includes a very nice Xmas luncheon immediately after the
game. This is our opportunity to thank our sponsors in person as we
should have some of them attending the lunch. Please ensure that
you have registered and are ready to play by 0715 so the shotgun
start of 0730 can be achieved, lunch has been ordered for 1200 ish.
The registration desk will be manned by 0630.
The
Tableland Summer of Golf schedule is now on our website and all
golfers are welcome as these games are managed by the clubs
themselves until the Vets return early Feb.

Next Game & AGM Gordonvale 26 Nov
All,
Our next game is a 4 ball stableford at Gordonvale GC, with a shotgun start at 8.30am.
The game will follow our AGM which will commence sharp at 8am.
Registration remains 7-8am, so we ask all players not to leave their registration until the last minute.
The game is sponsored by Drummond Golf.
This year we will not be having trophy presentations after the game, just our normal day prizes. This is to avoid having to transfer all our trophies from the cabinet in Cairns GC & return them shortly after. Trophy presentations will take place at our Christmas breakup on 3 Dec.
See you there,

Presidents Report & results Mareeba GC 19 Nov 19
PRESIDENT
REPORT – MAREEBA GOLF CLUB 19 Nov 19
Hi
Members,
Today`s
game was a single stableford at Mareeba Golf Club, there were exactly
92 players today consisting of 77 men & 15 ladies. There was one
new member, Brian Sheehan from HMBGC welcome Brian. The weather was
once again absolutely perfect and the course was in great condition
which has become the norm for Mareeba due to the great work from the
Cade family & all the volunteers. Thanks also to Gabi for her
usual charming self and best wishes to all staff at Mareeba GC and we
will catch up in 2020.
Our
sponsor today was CAZALY`s, their support throughout 2019 has
been invaluable and much appreciated by all FNQVGA members. All being
equal we will welcome Cazaly`s back as one of our generous
sponsors in 2020.
Most
of our Tassie travellers returned today and I might add arrived back
home with the “bikkies”. Peter Clarke from Atherton won the
overall trophy, Al Dwyer with the C grade trophy and Kay Bergiel won
a couple of daily prizes, well done to you all. We still have some
members who have taken the opportunity to do some touring around the
Apple Isle and to take in some great scenery whilst they are there.
Next
weeks game will be at GORDONVALE GC and our sponsor will be the Reef
Casino, hope to see you all there. A reminder that the AGM
will commence at 0800 and at the conclusion of the AGM there will be
a 4BBB shotgun start. If you do not have a partner don`t be concerned
as you will be grouped with someone when you register, please be
registered by 0745 so the AGM can proceed on time and we can then get
out on the course at the earliest opportunity.
The
Tableland Summer of Golf schedule will be posted on the blog sometime
this week with the first game at Atherton 10 Dec starting time of
0830 and all golfers are welcome as these games are managed by the
clubs themselves until the Vets return early Feb.
There
will be more information regarding the Xmas break up game and function at Cairns GC on
03 Dec 19 at the AGM next week.

PRESIDENT
REPORT – CAIRNS GOLF CLUB 12 Nov 19
Hi
Members,
Today`s
game was a single stableford at CAIRNS Golf Club, there were 92
players today consisting of 75 men & 17 ladies. There were four
new members, Ken Hall from Palmer Sea Resort, Greg Perrott, Neale &
Julie Turner from Cairns GC, welcome to the Vets and hope you enjoy
the ride. The weather was absolutely perfect and the course was in
great condition considering that the greens were only recently
scarified & sanded, well done to the Cairns GC greens staff.
Our
sponsor today was Stratford Painting Contractors (SPC),
thanks for your support throughout 2019 Gordon Perry, the
“vets” appreciate your sponsorship and are extremely
thankful that you have been a very supportive sponsor.
The
committee were a bit light on today due to the fact that the
Treasurer & V/Capt are doing us proud at the National Vets in
Tassie and V/Pres touring somewhere in Vic, however, we got through
unscathed and welcome them all back home next week. Many thanks to
Wal who is a little under the weather (flu) but still managed to
drive up from Babinda just to complete todays results, well done
Walter.
Next
weeks game will be at Mareeba GC and our sponsor will be Cazalys hope
to see you all there. I must mention the fact that the game
following Mareeba will be our AGM at G/Vale GC which will be a 4BBB
shotgun start commencing at the conclusion of the AGM, the AGM will
commence precisely at 0800. If you do not have a partner don`t be
concerned as you will be grouped with someone when you register,
please be registered by 0745 so the AGM can proceed on time and we can
then get out on the course by 0820 ish.
Then
on 03 Dec we have our Xmas break up luncheon and the Annual Trophy
Presentations at Cairns GC which will also be a shotgun start at 0730
but will be a single stableford event. Once again the timing of
registration is very important as the luncheon is programmed for 1200
ish then the Presentations will wind us up for 2019. We hope to have
the majority of our sponsors in attendance so we can show our
appreciation to them in person for their support during the year.
Members costs for the luncheon will be subsidised by the FNQVGA and
we will advise those costs after our committee meeting at Mareeba.

Next Game Cairns GC 12 Nov
All,
We're back to our normal Tuesday game, which is a single stableford at Cairns GC.
Greens were cored & sanded a couple of weeks ago & are coming along nicely, so should be a bit slower than usual, which will please some of us.
Sponsor for the day is Stratford Painting Contractors.
See you there.

Presidents Report & Results HALF MOON BAY Golf Club Monday 04 Nov 19
PRESIDENT
REPORT – HALF MOON BAY GOLF CLUB 04 Nov 19
Hi
Members,
Today`s
game was a single stableford at HALF MOON BAY Golf Club and as it was
a Monday due to the Melbourne Cup there was a fairly good attendance
of 84 golfers consisting of 65 men & 19 ladies. There was one
visitor, Rob Little from somewhere within Aust. The good scores below
reflect the great condition of the course and ditto for the weather.
Our
sponsor today was HALF MOON BAY Golf Club itself, many thanks
to Greg and his team for their support throughout the year as they
not only sponsored us on the day but also provide a slab of beer to
raffle off free of charge at every game. The very fortunate winner
today was the only non-drinker in the Vets, Brian Norris, congrats
Brian also many thanks to Greg for changing the beer into 1 doz
balls.
Some
of our committee and members will be travelling down to Tassie this
week for the National Vets Championships commencing next Monday, we
wish you all a great week, safe travels and hope the weather and
courses are to your liking and someone please bring home the bacon
back to the Far North from the Apple Isle. Always remember two heads
are better than one.
I
did receive a very stern and degrading email from our EX Pres,
Greg Gibb after my comments on the blog last week, I have sent it to
my legal team, may I just say “watch this space”.
We
are getting very close to the end of our season and with the AGM only
3 weeks away, anyone interested in joining the Committee please
complete a nomination form and hand it to the Secretary Louis Siedle
sooner rather than later.
Next
weeks game will be back to normal on Tuesday 12 Nov at Cairns Golf
Club and our sponsor will be Stratford Painting Contractors, hope to
see you all there.

Next Game MONDAY 4 Nov at Half Moon Bay
All,
As has been well advertised recently, our next game is on MONDAY 4 Nov at Half Moon Bay, because seemingly the Melbourne Cup takes precedence the next day. (Btw, if anyone hasn't seen the film 'Ride Like a Girl' I can recommend it, if for no other reason that I learned a lot about racing that I hadn't thought about before.)
Sponsor for the day is Half Moon Bay Golf Club.
I'm told the course has no new surprises to spring on us, so presumably the greens will be as slick as usual & the croc is still in residence on 3.
The caterers should be there but if you want a snack please fill in your order before teeing off.
See you there.
