PRESIDENT REPORT & RESULTS CAIRNS GOLF CLUB

Hi Members,

Welcome members to the final report for 2021 as today was our Xmas Breakup & the Annual Presentation Day. A fantastic turnout of 96 members for the post game luncheon which was magnificent I must say. Many thanks to Chloe and her team for arranging the meal and the timing was spot on. All of the 2021 trophies were presented to the winners today, I won`t name everyone as I have already done in previous reports but all of the recipients were on deck to collect their trophies, congratulations to you all.

What a great day to finish up the year, weather perfect, course great and the company was spot on. Thanks to all of our members for being on time today as shotgun starts rely wholly on punctuality.

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Cairns Golf Club and as mentioned we had 96 players consisting of 80 men & 16 ladies.

It was extremely hot on course today and it was pleasing to see that everyone kept themselves hydrated. The 3^rd hole was out of action due to the course upgrade but I`m sure everyone appreciated the 2 stableford points for missing out on it. The high scores below highlight the fact that the course is in tip top shape at the moment.

Our sponsor today was Stratford Painting Contractors (Gordon Perry), once again if you need a painter call Gordo at SPC he will look after you. He has also backed up again in 2022 to sponsor the Vets, many thanks Gordo.

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the committee to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and we return on Tuesday 01 Feb 22 at HMBGC. PRESIDENT REPORT & RESULTS GORDONVALE GOLF CLUB

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Gordonvale Golf Club and we had 63 players consisting of 54 men & 9 ladies.

The course was in great condition and the weather was HOT. Thanks to Peter for looking after us today and for Belle who kindly set up the venue for us to conduct our 2021 AGM. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the newly elected Bob Adams (Assistant Treasurer) and Bill Matthews (Vice President) to the committee.

There were some great scores today and we were blessed with Jaqui Hall holing out on the 17^th, congrats Jaqui and I hope you kept your ball so we can present it with your trophy. I also need to make note of Brian Norris runner up on 37pts in Div 2, he is 89 years young and in the prizes every week, fantastic and should be an inspiration to us all.

Our sponsor today was DRUMMOND GOLF who has been sponsoring us for years now, please support Drummonds when you are in need of golf related equipment.

Next week will be our Presentation Day & Xmas breakup luncheon at Cairns Golf Club and it will be another shotgun start at 0730 so please be punctual like today and be ready by 0715 to go to your relevant hole. Registration will be open at 0630 and Liz will allocate holes and mark them on the cards so you will know what tee you will be hitting off. Cost for members on the day will be $32 which includes your game & a great lunch on completion of the game, for those intending to bring non playing partners the cost for lunch only will be $30 per head. Presentation of the FNQVGA Annual Championships will happen directly after lunch.

This should be a fantastic day, sponsored by Stratford Painting Contractors and our final game for 2021, please note the Tablelands Summer of Golf commences the following week as per the schedule on this blog.

PRESIDENT REPORT & RESULTS MAREEBA GOLF CLUB

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Mareeba Golf Club and we had 73 players consisting of 60 men & 13 ladies.

The course was in great condition due mainly to the greenkeeper & his crew of volunteers, well done to all. Many thanks to Wendy again for getting us going first up with carts and giving us energy throughout the day. The weather was normal for Mareeba which made for very good playing conditions.

Thanks to Pete for stepping up today in my absence and for our new assistant Treasurer Bob Adams warming up his seat on the committee.

Our sponsor today was the REEF CASINO, when you are looking for a flutter, great meals and talented entertainment please drop in to the Casino.

The AGM is next week at Gordonvale and it will commence at 0800. The registration desk will be open at 0700-0800 so players can get their tee spots in time for the shotgun start which will be immediately after the AGM at 0830 so punctuality is paramount. There will be a sign-in sheet, AGM agenda/minutes and copies of the 2022 Program available on entry.

Obviously we will be at Gordonvale Golf Club next week and the sponsor will be DRUMMOND GOLF.

PRESIDENT REPORT & RESULTS CAIRNS GOLF CLUB

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Cairns Golf Club and we had a good turnout of 94 players consisting of 78 men & 16 ladies.

The course was in excellent condition due to the greenkeeper Tim & his crew, well done to all. Many thanks to Evie in the Pro shop for getting us going first up. The weather was very hot early but a coolish breeze kicked in a little later to make the game more bearable.

Our sponsor today was Golf World so please purchase any golf gear needed from their store as their sponsorship keep our fees down.

I would like to take this opportunity to pass on my thanks to Jane Taylor for her assistance on the committee, you made a difference Jane. Jane & Michael are leaving the far north to move down south in Vic, safe travels to you both.

PRESIDENT REPORT & RESULTS ATHERTON GOLF CLUB

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Atherton Golf Club and we had 56 players consisting of 47 men & 9 ladies. There was one new member Kerry McDonald from Innisfail and one visitor from Maryborough Steve Stagoll.

The course is coming along under the new greenkeeper Carl and some rain would give him a helping hand. The weather was just superb and once again many thanks to both Cheryl & Pup for looking after us in the early hours.

Our sponsor today was Drummond Golf who look after us on a regular basis so if you are in need of golf equipment please drop in and see their friendly staff.

Next week we are playing a single stableford event at Cairns Golf Club and the sponsor will be Golf World. Only four games left for our 2021 Program so come along and enjoy the end of 2021 with your mates from the Vets.

The Tablelands Summer of Golf Program will be on the blog as soon as Millaa, Atherton & Mareeba have agreed on the schedule of games following on from our 2021 Program.

PRESIDENT REPORT & RESULTS MAREEBA GOLF CLUB

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Mareeba Golf Club and we had 67 players consisting of 54 men & 13 ladies.

The course was in very good condition, the greens, tees & fairways were green and excellent to play on, well done to the greens staff at Mareeba. Many thanks to Wendy for getting us going and spoiling us during the day, makes for a great day out for our members.

I will leave the AGM sentence on from last week for those who may have forgotten. Just a quick word about the AGM on 23 Nov at G/Vale, the committee is dwindling and need some new members to assist in ensuring that the Vets continue to play golf every Tuesday in the Far North. Please if anyone is interested see Liz for nomination forms to be voted on at the AGM.

Our sponsor today was Brothers Leagues Club who are a great supporter of the Vets and we really appreciate their sponsorship, please visit their establishment to repay their support.

We have arranged for caterers to provide a lunch on the Presentation Day at Cairns GC Tuesday 30 Nov 21 and therefore need to know approx numbers attending. I commenced a proposed list of attendees today at Mareeba, so for those intending to come it would be appreciated if you could include your name on that list at daily registration over the next couple of weeks to enable us to give the contractor a fairly accurate number of attendance. The menu is excellent and total cost is $30 per head however, the FNQVGA will subsidise each member $15 so cost per member will be only $15 for a great meal. Playing cost will be the normal $17 per head so total cost for the day will be $32 which will include normal game and post game luncheon, will be a great end of year function.

Next week we are playing a single stableford event at Atherton Golf Club and the sponsor will be Drummond Golf, please note it will be Monday 1^st Nov (pre Melbourne Cup), hope to see you all there.

PRESIDENT REPORT – GORDONVALE GOLF CLUB 19 Oct 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Gordonvale Golf Club and we had 80 players consisting of 69 men & 11 ladies.

The course was in good condition and it was very noticeable that we have had no rain up here for a while as the fairways were extremely hard but it was also obvious that there has been some work on the greens & surrounds. Well done to Barnsey & Co for their good work. Many thanks to Belinda for looking after us and for sending out cold water and ice throughout the morning to our players in the very hot weather, much appreciated.

Just a quick word about the AGM on 23 Nov at G/Vale, the committee is dwindling and needs some new members to assist in ensuring that the Vets continue to play golf every Tuesday in the Far North. Please if anyone is interested see Liz for nomination forms to be voted on at the AGM.

Lois Tait`s Mum Funeral Details

 Hi Members,

As you all know Lois Tait`s Mum passed away last Tuesday and for those wishing to attend her funeral service the details are;

Cairns Crematorium on Foster Road, Mt Sheridan at 1pm on Thursday 21 October.
