Presidents Report & Results from Atherton GC Tuesday 25 May 21

PRESIDENT REPORT –ATHERTON GOLF CLUB 25 May 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Atherton Golf Club and there were 51 very keen & brave players consisting of 46 men & 5 ladies.

Our sponsor today was BROTHERS LEAGUES CLUB so please support them by dropping in for a punt a pint or some fine entertainment. Remember without our sponsors our weekly comp fees will double at a minimum so lets get behind them.

The course was in good condition but played tough with the dodgy weather conditions having said that at least we got a game in as Monday`s weather was extremely ordinary. Many thanks to Cheryl & Pup for getting us going as well as Brendan and his crew for the course setup.

Once again I would like to heap praise on our committee who are small in numbers but big at heart, thanks team for your dedication to the Vets. Our patron Claud Clark is currently absent with a bung shoulder and has passed on his best wishes to all members, back at you Claud and get better soon.

Next weeks game will be at Cairns GC and Golf World will be our sponsor, hope to see you all there.

Our sponsor today was DRUMMOND GOLF who are a great supporter of the Vets and might I say very much appreciated by our members, thanks Drummond Golf.

The course was in good condition and many thanks to Matt for getting us going as well as the greens staff for the course.

As we are now getting back to normal conditions I would like to remind players that if you are lucky enough to hit one of the par 3s with a NTP on it, please check to see if anyone is on the pin (mens & ladies) and if it is you please write your name on the sheet within the NTP holder and place the marker provided where your ball is, easy as. There is no need to measure as the marker clearly shows the position of the best ball.

Presidents Report & Results from Cairns GC Tuesday 11 may 21

PRESIDENT REPORT –CAIRNS GOLF CLUB 11 May 21

Hi Members,

Today we had a double whammy, a normal comp of the day and the final round of the 2 week comp sponsored by Oak Tree Retirement Village combining last week`s event at Mareeba GC with today`s game at Cairns GC. The game today was our usual stableford game at Cairns Golf Club and there were 83 players consisting of 68 men & 15 ladies. NTPs and scoring your partners card are back now and should be the norm from now on.

Our sponsor today was again the Oak Tree Retirement Village and we were very pleased with their sponsorship to the Vets in 2021, their local Manager Glen Donovan hinted that they may well continue their sponsorship well into the future, watch this space. Glen presented the winners & runners up over the 2 game event with their prizes at our daily presentation at Cairns GC, results below.

Many thanks to Cairns GC grounds staff for the great condition of the course and to Evie in the Pro-shop and Amelia in the Clubhouse. The weather was also perfect and the scores below reflect how ideal the conditions were. Thanks also to one of our members Derek Taylor for donating his previously won Cazaly`s voucher back into the Vets coffers, Jane Taylor (no relation) was the lucky recipient to receive this voucher drawn by our sponsor at presentation.

Next weeks game will be a single stableford event at Gordonvale GC and the sponsor will be Drummond Golf, hope to see you all there.

Presidents Report & today`s results Mareeba GC Tuesday 4th May/

PRESIDENT REPORT –MAREEBA GOLF CLUB 04 May 21

Hi Members,

Well we finally got a game in after all the rain over the past two weeks. Today`s game was a single stableford event at Mareeba Golf Club and there were 68 players consisting of 56 men & 12 ladies. Not a bad turnup considering the terrible weather recently. NTPs are back as well as scoring your partner`s card so we are slowly getting back to where we were pre-COVID-19

Our sponsor today was the Oak Tree Retirement Village as they were for the cancelled Atherton game last week, they have sponsored us for 2 games so they will be our sponsor again next week. There will be normal daily event prizes as well as prizes for the overall winners/runners for the two week competition courtesy of Oak Tree.

Many thanks today to Ken for setting us up upstairs and looking after our members with carts, food, drinks etc, thanks Ken. Also thanks to the Greens staff for the condition of the course, very green and lush and the weather was just great as always at Mareeba.

I would like to thank our committee members for doing a sterling job week in and week out well done team. Whilst talking about the committee there is an opportunity for someone to join us as the Vice President as my time will be coming to an end in Dec and I need to pass on vital information to whomever will be taking the position of President, have a think about it and I am more than happy to field any queries.

Next weeks game will be at Cairns GC and as mentioned above Oak Tree Retirement Village will be our sponsor, hope to see you all there.

Robin

President
