PRESIDENT REPORT –MAREEBA GOLF CLUB 28 Sep 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a stableford event at Mareeba Golf Club and there were 91 players consisting of 76 men & 15 ladies. We had two new members, Leon Nelson from Cairns and Peter Ryde from Innisfail, welcome to the Vets gents. There were three visitors, Michael Sanders from Cairns and Dave & Sandy Lockhard from Sarina, hope you enjoyed your visit.

The course was in very good condition and the weather was fantastic considering it rained on the way up the range but the sun came out at Mareeba as usual. Many thanks to Wendy for getting us out there with carts, food & drink and also for frantically printing copies of the cards as the club ran out which was a little embarrassing.

I have just been informed that today was Tracey Dickinson`s birthday, happy birthday Trace, well wishes from your fellow Vets members.

The Committee met today to decide on whether to change the tee off times for the Tablelands clubs for 2022 (put forward by a member) and after much discussion it was unanimous that the tee off times for all clubs remain at 0700-0800 for the 2022 Program, so no change for next year.

Our sponsor today was DRUMMOND GOLF who are a great supporter to the Vets and many thanks to Darren, Luke & George for their continued support.

Next week we are playing a single stableford event at Cairns Golf Club and the sponsor will be the REEF CASINO, hope to see you all there.

PRESIDENT REPORT –INNISFAIL GOLF CLUB 21 Sep 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a stableford event at Innisfail Golf Club and there were 71 players consisting of 56 men & 15 ladies. We had three new members, John Abbott & Kevin Walsh both from Innisfail and John Burns from Cairns, welcome to the Vets gents, hope you enjoy your time with us.

The course, weather & staff were all excellent and from all reports everybody had a blast on a course that a lot of us have not played before. Innisfail GC is run by all volunteer staff both inside the clubhouse and out on the course proper, it is a credit to everyone involved in running the club.

Our sponsor today was GOLF WORLD, please mention that you are a Vet when purchasing golf equipment from Golf World as it will assist us for future sponsorship from same.

The FNQVGA Committee are currently reviewing tee off times for Atherton, Millaa Millaa & Mareeba for the 2022 Program as there has been some discussion around 0800-0900 tee times for the Tablelands courses taking travel times etc etc into consideration for players & officials. We have had surveys in the past re this subject with the majority of members content with the status quo of 0700-0800 for all courses to eliminate confusion over starting times. We may include another survey at the AGM so all current members are able to vote for their preference. Times for the courses in Cairns are not negotiable as each course have social players waiting for us to free up their course. Watch this space for future correspondence.

Speaking of the Committee I would like to thank all members of the committee for keeping the Vets going and maintaining the hard work put in by our predecessors. Well done team and if there are any members thinking about joining the committee please make it known to Liz for the AGM. The old saying “many hands make light work” is true and it eases the pressure on our current committee if the numbers grow.

PRESIDENT REPORT –BABINDA GOLF CLUB 14 Sep 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Babinda Golf Club and there were 62 players consisting of 50 men & 12 ladies. We had one new member, Ned Jacobson from Innisfail, welcome to the Vets Ned. Very timely as we are at Innisfail next week.

Many thanks to Bernadette, Gabby, Pete and all of the volunteers at Babinda GC that keep the place ticking over, a credit to you all. The weather was absolutely perfect which was mainly due to Wal looking after us from up above, thanks Walta. Those that had tickets in the meat tray sorry as I won it YEAH!!!!

An upcoming event at Babinda GC is the Wal Anthony Memorial 9 hole stroke competition & BBQ, to be held on Friday 24 Sep with a shotgun start at 3pm. Contact the club via their facebook page or email babindagolf@gmail.com

Hi Members,

PRESIDENT REPORT –GORDONVALE GOLF CLUB 07 Sep 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a stableford event at Gordonvale Golf Club and there were 88 players consisting of 74 men & 14 ladies. We had one new member, John Drieberg from Gordonvale GC, welcome to the Vets John. Today was also the last day for two of our seasoned visitors John & Margie Finch as they have to return home to Vic, it has been our pleasure to play with you guys and wish you safe travels, will see you both again in 2022.

The course was in very good condition, many thanks to the greens staff and all volunteers that keep the course ready to play at any time. Pete, Pete & Darryl got us going early on and looked after us throughout the day, thanks guys you do a great service for your club.

Our sponsor today was BROTHER`s LEAGUES CLUB, whose sponsorship is much appreciated by our members. Please support their establishment whenever the occasion arises as they appreciate our support as well.

There was an AKUBRA hat left upstairs in the club and it has been handed over to staff at Gordonvale Golf Club for safe keeping so if you left it behind please see the club to pick it up.

All of the shirt orders bar one have been picked up from Liz, just one left for Rod Cade, please see Liz when next you play or we can give it to a Mareeba member on your behalf. Thanks Liz for going to the trouble for our members.
