Presidents Report & Results Mareeba GC Tuesday 26 Oct 21

PRESIDENT REPORT & RESULTS MAREEBA GOLF CLUB

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Mareeba Golf Club and we had 67 players consisting of 54 men & 13 ladies.

The course was in very good condition, the greens, tees & fairways were green and excellent to play on, well done to the greens staff at Mareeba. Many thanks to Wendy for getting us going and spoiling us during the day, makes for a great day out for our members.

I will leave the AGM sentence on from last week for those who may have forgotten. Just a quick word about the AGM on 23 Nov at G/Vale, the committee is dwindling and need some new members to assist in ensuring that the Vets continue to play golf every Tuesday in the Far North. Please if anyone is interested see Liz for nomination forms to be voted on at the AGM.

Our sponsor today was Brothers Leagues Club who are a great supporter of the Vets and we really appreciate their sponsorship, please visit their establishment to repay their support.

We have arranged for caterers to provide a lunch on the Presentation Day at Cairns GC Tuesday 30 Nov 21 and therefore need to know approx numbers attending. I commenced a proposed list of attendees today at Mareeba, so for those intending to come it would be appreciated if you could include your name on that list at daily registration over the next couple of weeks to enable us to give the contractor a fairly accurate number of attendance. The menu is excellent and total cost is $30 per head however, the FNQVGA will subsidise each member $15 so cost per member will be only $15 for a great meal. Playing cost will be the normal $17 per head so total cost for the day will be $32 which will include normal game and post game luncheon, will be a great end of year function.

Next week we are playing a single stableford event at Atherton Golf Club and the sponsor will be Drummond Golf, please note it will be Monday 1st Nov (pre Melbourne Cup), hope to see you all there.

Regards

Robin

PRESIDENT REPORT – GORDONVALE GOLF CLUB 19 Oct 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Gordonvale Golf Club and we had 80 players consisting of 69 men & 11 ladies.

The course was in good condition and it was very noticeable that we have had no rain up here for a while as the fairways were extremely hard but it was also obvious that there has been some work on the greens & surrounds. Well done to Barnsey & Co for their good work. Many thanks to Belinda for looking after us and for sending out cold water and ice throughout the morning to our players in the very hot weather, much appreciated.

Just a quick word about the AGM on 23 Nov at G/Vale, the committee is dwindling and needs some new members to assist in ensuring that the Vets continue to play golf every Tuesday in the Far North. Please if anyone is interested see Liz for nomination forms to be voted on at the AGM.

For Sale: Complete set of Calloway V. Series clubs, bag & buggy for $300, contact Derek on 0415764604 if anyone is interested.

Our sponsor today was Stratford Painting Contractors so if you have any sort of paint job coming up please call Gordo and he will look after you. Thanks again for your support to the Vets Gordo.

Presidents Report & Results Atherton Tuesday 12 Oct 21

PRESIDENT REPORT – ATHERTON GOLF CLUB 12 Oct 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Atherton Golf Club and we had 63 players consisting of 54 men & 9 ladies which is less that average for Atherton, perhaps members are over the roadworks up both ranges.

The course is now in the care of their new greenkeeper Carl who has only been on deck for two weeks so he has hit the ground running. Carl and his crew were exceptionally busy today and there was noticeable improvement in the greens and surrounds. Many thanks to Pup & Cheryl for looking after us at stupid o`clock and beyond.

I now want to pay homage to our beloved Treasurer Lois Tait for turning up this morning to ensure her duties of Treasurer were completed as per the norm. Lois`s mum passed away early this morning but Lois soldiered on even though her stress levels were high. All our love and deepest sympathies to you & all of your family Lois, many thanks from all Vets members for your dedication in a difficult time in your life.

Now a message from Lois that I forgot to mention last week, those members who have changed clubs in the past year please let Lois know your new club & GOLFLINK No so her records are up to date. Please also ensure that you record your golflink no on the card when playing so Russ can input the daily scores without issues.

Our sponsor today was CAZALY`s AFL, a great venue to meet friends and enjoy the club`s hospitality and you might even win on the pokies.

Next week we are playing a single stableford event at Gordonvale Golf Club and the sponsor will be Stratford Painting Contractors, hope to see you all there.

Presidents Report & Results for CAIRNS GC on Tuesday 05 Oct 21

PRESIDENT REPORT –CAIRNS GOLF CLUB 05 Oct 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Cairns Golf Club and we had a very good turnout of 104 players consisting of 87 men & 17 ladies. There was one new member, Bryce Hoad from Innisfail, welcome to the Vets Bryce. There was one visitor, Neil Gooderham (Rick`s brother) playing his 1st game for handicap.

The course was in excellent condition, thanks to Tim and his crew and it would appear that summer has arrived as it was very hot today reflected by the very good scores below in the results. Thanks also to Evie for looking after us in the Pro Shop and getting us off on time.

Please be mindful of slow play as we are only visiting these golf courses and they do appreciate the Vets games but all clubs have social players ready to play after our last groups go through both the 1st & 10th tees, so please everyone make a concerted effort to keep up with the group in front of you. The Vets have a great reputation with all clubs for being a very well organised group of individuals so please keep in mind the pace of play rules and our reputation will remain intact.

Our sponsor today was the REEF CASINO who have sponsored us all year so please drop in to the Casino for a meal or a punt to show your appreciation of their support to the FNQVGA.

Next week we are playing a single stableford event at Atherton Golf Club and the sponsor will be CAZALY`s AFL, hope to see you all there.
