With some of our members away at Capricorn Vets golf on the Central Coast, 54 players (10 ladies and 44 men) played a Single Stableford for trophies by Brothers Leagues Club.

Results CAIRNS Tuesday 22 August 2023

There were no excuses for returning a bad score at Cairns Golf Club this morning when friendly conditions prevailed for the FNQVGA consistency series  and 84 players (19 ladies and 65 men) took full advantage. Not the least was Suda Woodward who birdied the 18th  to return a brilliant 43 points to win the Ladies division. Well done.

The Cairns Club is at the midpoint of it Championships and in spite of the valiant efforts of the greens crew, the greens are showing the  affect of incessant wet weather this year. Who knows , perhaps they should try some "Wet and Forget" on their fungal problems!

Drummond Golf were are reliant sponsors and we thank them very much.

FNQVGA Championships Round 2

In weather that changed more times than costumes at a Taylor Swift concert, FNQVGA Vets completed Round 2 of the Championships at Half Moon Bay this morning. In spite of the conditions, some excellent score were returned: notably, the Mens Division 1 winner Neal Arnott who shot a 4 over par 74 (net 66) to win on a count back from the unlucky Des Jones (66). More outstanding was the Mens Div. 2 winner Barry  Pike on 65 net. Well done.

A special thanks to Ollie , Sasha and Tanya in the Pro Shop and Steve behind the bar.

Drummond Vouchers 2023

Update on Drummond Vouchers

It’s time to provide some clarification regarding FNQVGA Drummond Golf prize vouchers, especially following recent directions made by Drummond head office to the Cairns store.

We have two different types of Drummond Golf vouchers.

1.  There are the printed vouchers which are donated by Drummond Golf Cairns as our major sponsor, but there are restrictions, the main ones being that they are now only valid for 30 days, can only be redeemed at Drummond Golf Cairns store, cannot be used at the same time as any other voucher, and can only be used for a purchase (not for store credit as was the case previously).

2.  There are the gift card vouchers purchased from Drummond Golf on behalf of our other sponsors who donate cash, and are the same as any other Drummond gift cards; i.e. they are valid for 10 years and can be redeemed at any Drummond store.

Please see Captain Pete if you need any further explanation.
