PRESIDENT REPORT – MAREEBA GOLF CLUB 14 May 19

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at MAREEBA Golf Club, there were 85 starters consisting of 66 men & 19 ladies. There were 4 new members today, Steve Whanarere from Cairns GC, Mark Davidson & Ken Hudson from HMBGC and Thomas McEwan from AthertonGC welcome you all to the Vets and I am sure you will enjoy you stay with us. The course was in excellent condition and thanks go out to Rod Cade and his crew of volunteers. Many thanks also to Gabi & Deb for their work inside the club providing the correct quantities of food & drink to keep us going.

For the second week in a row our sponsor was STRATFORD PAINTING CONTRACTORS, much appreciation to Gordon for supporting the Vets and for those that think he is merely a figment of my imagination you will definitely see him at the Mirage game on 14 June.

There has been issues regarding some members details not being included on their cards, please ensure that you put your full Golflink number on the card so our Captain can accurately input them into the system and handicaps are adjusted accordingly.

Our Secretary Louis Siedle spoke about an email trail he had with our OLD President and provided some comic relief for all, you had to be there to get the full value.

All,

Our next game is a single stableford at Mareeba golf club.  It is the first round for the Ted Thomasson trophy.

I'm told there's nothing new occurring on the course, Gaby will have her apple turnovers available as usual & as it never rains in Mareeba we need not worry about the tropical low developing off our coast!

PRESIDENT REPORT – CAIRNS GOLF CLUB 07 May 19

Hi Members,

Today`s game was another single stableford event at CAIRNS Golf Club, there were 82 starters consisting of 61 men & 21 ladies. There were 2 new members today, John Riordan from Palmer Sea Resort and Miriam Schneider from Cairns GC, welcome John & Miriam to the Vets. The course was in very good condition and the feedback from all was extremely positive. Many thanks to Anton in the pro shop for getting us moving on time and Brit behind the bar for the obvious. There was a glasses case & ladies hat handed in and they have been left at the Pro Shop if anyone has lost same.

Our sponsor today was STRATFORD PAINTING CONTRACTORS, much appreciation to Gordon for supporting the Vets, unfortunately Gordon could not make it today but as he is once again the sponsor for next week at Mareeba, perhaps we will see him there.

The Committee were back in full swing today apart from our beloved Captain, Wal who is still doing the Leyland Brothers thing but will be back for Mareeba next week. Those wishing to nominate for Mirage on the 14 June please see Bob at the registration desk at Mareeba and he will gladly relieve you of $35 for the entry fee.

President's Report & Results Atherton 30 April

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at ATHERTON Golf Club, there were 55 starters consisting of 43 men & 12 ladies. There was 1 new member today, John Norris from Mossman,  welcome to the Vets John. Taking the weather into consideration, 55 was a great rollup and my congratulations to all those who did turn up to play and support the Vets as well as Atherton Golf Club. I think my comments about the weather last week may have had something to do with the ordinary conditions today, I will not mention weather ever again.

Our sponsor today was DRUMMONDS GOLF, much appreciated Darren and many thanks for your continued support to the Vets and hopefully our members are supporting DRUMMONDS in return.

Andrina (VC) & Lois (Treasurer) were absent (golf lessons down south) today and Wal (Cap) is off travelling the countryside, my thanks go out to Russ & Louis for backfilling their role thus ensuring things kept ticking over as per the norm.

President's Report & Results HMB 23 Apr

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Half Moon Bay Golf Club, there were 88 starters consisting of 65 men & 23 ladies. There were 5 new members today, Alistair Inglis & Su Zheng from Cairns and Sue Stephens, Liz Harman & Geoff Schneider all from Half Moon Bay welcome to the Vets. The course was in great condition and the weather was even better, at last methinks the tide has turned our way. Our sponsor today was Cape York Accounting, many thanks to them for their continued support to the Vets and hopefully our members are utilising their services.

The second raffle for the Mirage game was done and the winner of $70 is Ian (Kojak) Schofield and 2^nd place receiving $30 is May Wilkinson, please see Doug next week for your prize money. We now have $200 for the Mirage game which is sufficient for the daily winners, ball run etc, many thanks to all members for supporting the raffles. Those not yet nominated for Mirage please see Bob Billingham at the registration desk as numbers are filling rapidly.

Once again HMBGC donated a slab of beer to be raffled off to those who remained for the presentations and the lucky winner was Rosemary Barker. Thanks must go to Greg Ferry and his team at Yorkies for their support and looking after the Vets when we are programmed to visit.
