Due to recent heavy rain on the Tablelelands Tuesday's scheduled Summer of Golf round set down for Atherton has been cancelled.
Next Tuesday 10th January SOG is set down for Mareeba at 8.00am
Hi Members,
Today was our final game for the year followed by our Xmas lunch and Presentation of Trophies awarded for the year at Cairns Golf Club.
We had 91 players-: 69 men and 22 ladies- who participated in a Stableford round All prizes for the day were presented and received by the players ( except we owe George Studham and Charlie Quarter a ball next year because they had left before presentation). The weather remained fine for most players but unfortunately a few were caught in a downpour before they finished their game.
Our sponsor today was Drummond Golf and we are very grateful for their continued sponsorship. Georgia Buckle represented Drummond's at the Luncheon as Darren Golder was unable to attend. Thank you so much for coming Georgia.
We also had a guest speaker - Dr Sebastian Moss from FNQH Skin Cancer Centre who gave a talk on the importance of yearly Skin checks for skin cancer.
Thank you so much to Jessie, Chloe and the bar staff for looking after us so well in the morning and during lunch. Also thank you to Evie and Laing who managed to accomodate the players with their carts early this morning.
This will be the last time that I write the blog - Peter and I would like to wish all our members a very Merry Xmas and a healthy, happy 2023. We would like to wish the 2023 Committee all the best for 2023. (Thank you to Dee Kottnig for nominating to be Assistant Treasurer today)

Hi Members,
Today we held our FNQVGA - AGM at Mareeba G.C - 58 members : 44 men and !4 ladies attended. We commenced the AGM at 8.00 am and then had a shotgun start at 8.30 am. The weather was very hot and we all survived the day.
We welcomed 2 visitors today from Glenwaverly in Vic. - Bill and Jill Cornish and we also had 2 members join - Charlie Quarter and Graham Jenkins - We hope they all had a good day.

As a result of a change in dates due to next week's AGM at Mareeba, we played at Gordonvale today. (we gave constant notices of this change of dates for a month) We had 49 players attend - 42 Men and 7 Ladies. It was a very hot day - fortunately there was a liitle breeze at times.
Thank you to Jonathan and Jessie for helping us to get carts etc. this morning. The course was in good condition - very dry except for the greens. There was a lot of run which obviously helped the scoring.
Our sponsor today was Reef Casino and we are very grateful for their support over the last few years and they are sponsoring us again in 2023.

Hi Members,
Today we arrived at Atherton Golf Club to a grey sky and light drizzle - thankfully it cleared quite quickly to a lovely cool day. There were 59 players - 51 men and 8 ladies who played a Stableford round.
The course was in great condition - however the greens had recently been sanded which meant that putting was interesting until they dried out. The course has obviously had a lot of projects happening to improve it. Carl and his ground staff are doing a great job.
Thanks to Cheryl and Russell (Pup) for getting us going with carts and lunch orders this morning and Cheryl was there after the game to provide drinks and lunch orders. It is greatly appreciated.
