Cairns Game 1st March 2011 - POSTPONED

The game scheduled to be played tomorrow at Cairns Golf Club has been postponed to Tuesday 8^th March due to the excessive rainfall over the weekend.

I will send another email on Friday 4^th March to give you an indication of the prospects of playing at Cairns Golf Club on the Tuesday 8^th March.

If you are looking for a game tomorrow 1^st March,  Mareeba Golf Club have brought forward their Tablelands Summer of Golf game from 8^th March.  They operate tee offs very much the same as the vets.  Report from Mareeba this morning is,  they had some rain yesterday afternoon, the course is dry enough to play. Cairns Game 1st March 2011

Veteran Golfers

I think by this stage everybody living in the Far North has experienced a lot of rain. 

I spoke with Cairns Golf Club this morning they are keen to present the course in the best possible conditions for the Vets to play on.

The course at present is very wet, but there were players out there. The forecast is for more rain from Sunday.

We will review the situation early Monday morning, if the conditions are still bad we MAY postpone the game to the 8^th March, hoping for some better conditions.

A message will be posted on the blog and emails sent on Monday morning as to the outcome.

If the game at Cairns is postponed, Mareeba Golf Club may bring forward the Tablelands Summer of Golf game from the 8/3 to 1/3, depending on course conditions. I will advise in the Monday email and blog.

22nd February Game at Gordonvale Golf Club

Vets

The report from Gordonvale Golf Club this morning is if the weather holds and we do not get significant rain the 18 Holes will be open tomorrow for the FNQVGA event.

Carts will be allowed, but we ask caution on particularly the 4^th hole, and use the 90 degree rule is recommended on other fairways to protect them.

The event is a Single Stableford

Preferred lies through the green will be played, bunkers and cyclone damage debris are GUR

Gordonvale have worked hard to prepare the course for us, I would ask all Vets to come out and support them tomorrow.

Veteran Golfers

The game set down for today at Gordonvale Golf Club was postponed to next Tuesday 22^nd February.  Mareeba Golf Club hosted todays event.

Thank you Mareeba Golf Club for presenting the Veteran golfers with an excellently presented course.

85 players contested the day with reasonably low scores winning the event.

Just a reminder, tomorrow Tuesday 15^th February the FNQ Veteran Golfers are playing at Mareeba Golf Club. I called Mareeba this morning and the report is, the course is looking great! Hope to see you there.

URGENT - CHANGE OF VENUE for 15th Feb to MAREEBA

Dear Members

The game scheduled to be played at Gordonvale Golf Club on the 15^th February has been postponed to the 22^nd February. The course is quite wet and only the 9 Holes inside the racecourse available for play. If this is still the situation on the 22^nd, we will play that inside 9 twice.

Tuesday 15^th game will now be played at Mareeba Golf Club, the club which has suffered least from cyclone damage and rain. Of course this will depend on how much rain there is between now and Tuesday. We will keep members informed by email and the blog on Monday as to the conditions at Mareeba.
