Next Game Mareeba 1 Apr

All,

Our game next Tuesday is at Mareeba & I'm told the course is in great condition in preparation for a couple of big tournaments they have coming up, (& for us of course), so it should provide a welcome change from the heavy going on courses down here.

The comp is a single stableford sponsored by TGT Hardware & it is the start of our Consistency events.

This is the start of our weekly events, so hopefully the weather will also start to improve along the coast.

See you there.

Savannah Cup

All,

Just a reminder that the Savannah Cup has started & for those of you who don't know how the points are calculated, below is an explanation.  For those who aren't interested in details, we publish the leaders after every single comp game & the full list is available at registration!

The points distribution is the SAME as The Fedex Cup operated on  PGA Tour events in the United States
Points are allocated for the position you finish in Veterans Single Stableford or Single Stroke competitions
This competition commenced on the 18th February 2014  at Gordonvale and the last event will be 18th November 2014 at Half Moon Bay
First place will receive 500 points
Second place will receive 300 points
Third place will receive 190 points
Fourth place will receive 135points.
Further points will be issued to all golfers who finish between 5th place ( 110points) and 64th  position ( 7 points).
IF four golfers finish say tied for first place, the first through fourth place points are added together and divided by four ..ie 1125points divided by four = 281.25
REFER TO FEDEX CUP POINTS ON THE WEB

There will be separate Savannah Cup competition for Male and Female veteran members in 2014
Members with the most points as at the 18th November will be declared the Savannah Cup best golfer in 2014.

Winners in 2013 were Wal Anthony and Lois Tait

Any further queries to Colin Johannsen at any Veterans competition.

President's Report & Results Mareeba 11 Mar

President's Report & Results
of the 4 Ball Aggregate Competition
Played on 11th March 2014
at Mareeba Golf Club
72 Players

President's Report

Although the forecast was not good with lows hanging around threatening rain, a very pleasant, cool day greeted the 61 men & 11 ladies who turned up for a hastily arranged game to make up for the cancelled game last week.  The 4 Ball aggregate comp was sponsored by Kennedy's Betta Electrical.

The course was in great condition, which was a welcome change from the somewhat soggy conditions in places on courses down at the coast.  Thanks to Greens Director Kevin & volunteers & Robbie Pitt who mowed the greens at 0430, real devotion to duty!  Thanks also to Raylene & Jon who looked after us with sandwiches & at the bar.

Thanks to Katrin Nash of Drummond Golf who came up to explain their sponsorship this year & sign up members for the Drummond Club.  As more than 20 members signed up, we qualified for a Fortress Empire Cart Bag & voucher, which will be offered as prizes at some stage.  There are other benefits for members who join the Drummond Club – check out the special announcement in this blog on 27 Feb.

Our game next Tuesday is a single stableford at Half Moon Bay, sponsored by Brothers Leagues Club.

Game at Mareeba on 11 Mar

All,

In order to offer a game to members to make up for the cancelled one at Atherton last week, we have arranged a game next Tuesday at Mareeba, which was already scheduled to host a Tablelands Summer of Golf game.

The synoptic forecast is not good, but hopefully if there is rain, Mareeba will be playable.

The game will be a 4BBB Aggregate sponsored by Kennedys Betta Electrical.

See you there,

Louis Siedle

PS  We have some brochures for the AVGU National Championships available at registration, or you can download them with an application form at www.vetsgolf.com.au.

Atherton Game 4 Mar CANCELLED

All,

Atherton have advised that the course will probably not be playable tomorrow at the rate the rain is coming down up there at present & the synoptic does not look good.

Accordingly, the Atherton game has been cancelled & we will see what happens over the next week.

If you know anyone who does not have internet access & who may be thinking of going up, please let them know.

Louis Siedle

STOP PRESS

Col at Mareeba advises that they have not had much rain & will be putting a game on there for anyone who wants to go up.  It will not be a Vets event, but I'm sure you will be looked after well as usual
