President's Report & Results Atherton 29 Sep

The event today was played at Atherton and was the final round of the consistency trophy for the year. 73 men and 15 women played for prizes donated by DRUMMOND GOLF OF CAIRNS.

We welcomed visitors from Japan and Bargara.

I have been told that some players feel somewhat annoyed when they have to wait to be given a tee time when groups who have arrived after them are going to the tee. This occurs because some players enter as a group of 4 and we may have to wait to get another player or players to fill your group. Please be assured that we try to be an all inclusive club and we will not deliberately ignore you, so grab a cup of coffee and hopefully someone will sit and have a chat.

A sand iron was handed in today and the owner can contact Lou Siedle to arrange its return or collect it at Babinda next Tuesday.

The time of year is fast approaching where we call for nominations to the Management Committee for the next year.  (No, please don't switch off with a groan!)

We have had few complaints about the operation of our games & quite a few compliments, so we assume you are happy with the way things are being run.

However, any committee needs fresh blood if it is to continue to run effectively.

If you feel you can give some time to your organisation, please consider nominating for a position on the committee.  It really is not onerous & if you're unsure talk to one of the committee who will explain what's involved.

The course has plenty of run, the drains are largely dry except near the bridges, but have plenty of lengthening grass in them, especially at the 12th.

Also, currently the lorikeets are having great fun stripping branches & leaves off trees, so there's plenty of leaf litter around for balls to hide under.

President's Report & Results Mareeba 15 Sep

Today was the second biggest field of the year so far with 119 players being 97 men and 22 women. Despite the rather large numbers the field seemed to move at a reasonable pace, perhaps partly due to the dry rough and general lack of long grass on the course.

The sponsor for today was MAREEBA MITRE 10 and we thank them for their support. I would like to take this opportunity to remind those members who win vouchers from our sponsors to thank the business for the support shown to our club.

I also remind members that we will be electing a new committee for next year and some of our current members are not standing again and I thank them for the effort they have put in, especially Di who is the outgoing treasurer after a 3 year stint. Nomination forms will be available in the next month for the AGM on 24^th November.

Next week we play at Gordonvale and is the last chance to place an order for one of our club shirts, so please see Lois at the check in counter with your money in hand.

Today we had 65 men and 8 ladies who enjoyed a magnificent morning at Atherton for a stableford event which was the third last round for the consistency trophy.
