President's Report & Results HMB 28 June

Today we had a very good field of 94 men and 21 women at the Half Moon Bay golf club for a stableford round of the consistency trophy. We were blessed with a perfect day for golf and the course is in great condition. We were pleased to welcome two visitors from Pioneer Valley as well as five new members from Wyong, Maryborough and Half Moon Bay.

The sponsor for today was KENNEDY'S BETTER ELECTRICAL and we thank them for their interest in veterans golf.

We are also indebted to the Half Moon Bay club for donating a carton of beer to be raffled at presentations. Tickets are free but the winner must be present to win the prize. Remember that this will happen each time we visit H.M.B.

Our appreciation also goes to Tarquin and his lovely friend Nyssa for the hamburgers cooked for the hungry golfers at the rounds end. Hopefully this will be a regular event, not many of us will have had a My Kitchen Rules finalist cook for them.

Our game next Tuesday is a single stableford Consistency event at Half Moon Bay.

The course is drying out well, has been prepared for the FNQ Golf championships & is in great condition (so make sure you fill in your divots!), so hopefully there will be no more unseasonal rain before then.

The caterer will also be cooking up his famous hamburgers from 10am to 1pm so you can get some sustenance at half time & won't be going home hungry.

President's Report & Results Mareeba 21 June

Today 82 men and 19 women enjoyed the Mareeba golf course in perfect condition. We welcomed visitor Colin Smith and 5 new members, Joan and Denis Barker from New Zealand, Robert Kum and Alison Oliver from Victoria and David Morrison from Atherton as well as welcoming back the Finch's from Victoria.

The format for the ongoing Savannah cup has been enhanced by introducing progress prizes and the winners of the first 3 months were John Everall and Russ Gill in the mens division and Lily Schirmer and Betty Lou Pitt in the womens division.

Considering the overnight rain that continued on and off during the day, quite a few turned up at Cairns Golf Club for the days event. Unfortunately, only 34 men and 8 women displayed the intestinal fortitude of true golfers, the remainder skulking off home.

President's Report & Results Gordonvale 7 Jun

Once again a chilly morning (by FNQ standards) turned into a beautiful day for golf and the Gordonvale course is in perhaps the best condition we have seen in quite some time, with the fairways very good and the greens starting to show results from all the work that has been carried out.

The event today was a single stableford sponsored by GOLF WORLD and we thank them for the store vouchers awarded to the winners and runners up.

There were 79 men and 14 women competing today and treasurer John informs me that our membership for the year to date has reached 200 and is expected to climb as the winter sets in down south.
