President's Report

After some depressing wet winter weather over the last few days, 77 men & 23 ladies turned up at Gordonvale to play & found a day that offered some sun at last. The course was in good condition, with the greens newly mown & rough well under control. Thanks Shep, Bob & other volunteers.

Thank you to Kim & the bar staff for looking after us as usual. Thanks also to Health & Fitness Solutions for sponsoring the event & to Scott Payne for turning up, playing & presenting the prizes.

Welcome to visitors Charlie Langham of Wauchope & Denise Knape of Mt Barker, SA & to new members Graham Johnson & Peter McGregor of Half Moon Bay & Jothi Naidoo of Cairns. Our membership for the year to date stands at 294.

The recent rain will have taken some of the run that the course had last Saturday, but the drains have had most of the heavy rough removed since we last played there.

President's Report

The synoptic forecast was for onshore winds & showers. The first greeted the 27 men & 3 ladies that turned up for the game, but not enough to call it off. However, after about an hour the first of the showers hit & they continued through the round, interspersed with heavy mist at times which made following the ball flight difficult if you could see the green! The course coped with the wet surprisingly well with no pools on the fairways & greens quite puttable if a bit slow, but the conditions put off about half the players who did not finish.

It was interesting after the game to drive down the hill & find the wind moderated & showers cleared, so Millaa seems to have copped the bulk of the forecast.

Thanks to Warren & the volunteers for getting the course in order & putting on a sausage sizzle for us, the latter being very welcome at half way & the end of the round.  I hope your round scheduled for tomorrow will have more clement weather.

Thanks also to Masters Home Improvement for sponsoring the event. There was only one division, but the event counted for the Patron's Trophy, so those who finished have a lead & also jumped up the Savannah Cup leaderboard.

Another beautiful cool morning warmed up to a clear day with a gusty breeze getting up later. A field of 96 men & 39 ladies who turned up to play in day two of our Open. The greens remained firm & fast, which was again reflected in the scores. Thanks to the greens staff for getting everything in order for us to tee off promptly at 7am.

Thank you to the Gail & the caterers who did a great job of preparing enough sandwiches to keep the hoard satisfied at half time & also a lunch of fish or lasagne, chips & salad for each group at the end of the game, also to Natalie & the girls at the bar for keeping up with the numbers. Thanks also to Drummond Golf for sponsoring each day of the event, the Nearest the Pins & the overall Open.   We were pleased their representative Katrin was able to play today & present the prizes.

Once again the timesheet worked well. Thanks to Michelle in the office for helping with printing out records for us & keeping the system running.

I would in particular thank all the committee members who put in a great effort to ensure the day ran smoothly.  I received many congratulatory remarks on the competition which are due to their dedication.

This event has now become well established after 3 years & seems to retain its popularity, with our previous President Ross Bird coming up from Port Macquarie to play again, as did several others of our regular 'grey nomad' visitors. We hope to see more of you at our regular Tuesday games whilst you are in the area.

Next Tuesday we are at Millaa Millaa & as numbers over about 80 on a 9 hole course can cause a bit of congestion, please let me know if you intend to come to that event if you have not already done so today.

A beautiful morning with hardly a cloud to be seen rewarded a good field of 95 men & 39 ladies who turned up to contest our Open on a course in great condition after the club championships the previous weekend. The greens were firm & fast, which was reflected in the scores. Congratulations to the greens staff.

Thank you to the Gail & the caterers who did a great job of preparing enough sandwiches to keep the hoard satisfied at half time & also a plate for each group at the end of the game and to Natalie at the bar for keeping up with the numbers. Thanks also to Drummond Golf for sponsoring each day of the event, the Nearest the Pins & the overall Open.

The timesheet worked well, with none of the usual bursts of frantic activity we often get at our usual registrations. The Board set out in alphabetical order also made life easier for recording the scores as they came in, thanks to Captain Greg & Russ Gill for preparing it.

Everyone seemed to find their way around the club's computerised scoring system, so scores were displayed in a continuous loop as they were entered, which kept all informed of their placings.

Tomorrow please remember to check your times as they may differ slightly from todays & that you will be playing off the other 9 from today.
