President's Report

A rather poor field of 60 men and 19 ladies turned up on a beautiful clear day for a single stableford on our pre Melbourne Cup Monday game.  The course had plenty of run on the fairways & although the greens were a bit slow, they were better than they have been for some time. Congratulations to the greens staff & volunteers for the efforts they have been putting in.

Thanks to Drummond Golf for sponsoring the day, Tom Bryce & Graham Real for doing up the board & getting the nearest the pins ready & the bar staff for looking after us.

Good to see Gino Busoli from Gordonvale coming for a game.  Congratulations to Lily Schirmer for her Eagle on the 2nd.  I apologise to the ladies for not picking up that they only had 2 NTPs out & will try to do better in future!

Our next game is at Mareeba, but as all the committee apart from Vice Capt Russ are away representing the FNQVGA at the Nationals in WA (it’s gunna be hard but we’ll do our best!), some previous committee members have kindly agreed to fill the gaps.  Patron Claud is standing in for me, Col McDowall for Treasurer Di with Noel Webster assisting & perhaps a couple of others.  Claud will be emailing me the results, so I hope to have them up on the blog & to the paper as usual that evening, but if they are a bit late, please bear with us.
