PRESIDENT REPORT –CAIRNS GOLF CLUB 29 Jun 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Cairns Golf Club and there were 95 players consisting of 82 men & 13 ladies, a very good rollup today. There were three new members, Trent Bond from Cairns, Geoff Sherman from Leongatha & Daryl Wall from Innisfail GC welcome to the FNQVGA gents, I hope you enjoy the Vets. There were four visitors, Russell Wicks from HMBGC, Abby & Emily McEwan from Atherton and Louise Blanden from Adelaide.

Many thanks to Tim & his crew for the great condition of the course, also thanks to Chloe & Anton for getting us all out on time and looking after us on our return to the clubhouse, masks were not required today but watch this space as Qld is starting to have new COVID cases.

The following is now a plea for auditor`s assistance to the Vets come October. We are looking for an authorised auditor to audit our books towards the end of the year as our previous Auditor Harvey Blanche has moved south to be with his family. We are a non-profit organisation and would dearly like assistance as “pro bono” (freebie), Harvey said our books are the easiest records he has ever balanced and it only took an hour of his time for the annual audit of our books. If anyone knows of or is an accredited auditor who could possibly assist us please get in touch with our Treasurer Lois Tait or any member of our committee as our books have to be audited annually.

Next weeks game will be a single stableford event at Babinda Golf Club and the sponsor will be Golf World. I received an email from Gabrielle (Wal`s daughter) and they are very much looking forward to the Vets game next week and will have a “meat tray” raffle for those interested, your support is very much appreciated by Babinda GC. I hope to see you all there.

PRESIDENT REPORT –ATHERTON GOLF CLUB 22Jun 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was something different and a nice change from the norm, a 2 person Ambrose at Atherton Golf Club and there were 75 players consisting of 66 men & 9 ladies. There were two new members, Dennis Thelan and Peter Steventon both from Atherton GC, welcome to the Vets guys, there was also one visitor, Daryl Wall from Innisfail.

The course was in tip top shape due to the good work from the greens staff. Many thanks to Cheryl, Pup & Ray from the clubhouse for their usual great service to us, always a treat. The weather was a little cool early and warmed up towards the end of the game but no rain which is always good news.

Our sponsor today was Cazaly`s AFL, a great supporter to the Vets so please visit their establishment if you are looking for a good night`s entertainment. Their sponsorship is very much appreciated by all members.

PRESIDENT REPORT –GORDONVALE GOLF CLUB 15 Jun 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Gordonvale Golf Club and there were 82 players consisting of 69 men & 13 ladies. There was one new member, Cec Turner from HMBGC, welcome back to the Vets Cec. It was very pleasing again to see a good turnout this week and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves regardless of their golf score.

The course was great condition and the weather was absolutely perfect after the early morning fog lifted. Many thanks to Belinda for looking after us all day and all of the greens staff members and volunteers for their efforts on the course.

Our sponsor today was the REEF CASINO “the only place to play” if you feel the need to have a punt or just relax please call into the Reef Casino. Their sponsorship is very much appreciated by all members.

PRESIDENT REPORT –MAREEBA GOLF CLUB 08 Jun 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Mareeba Golf Club and there were 89 players consisting of 74 men & 15 ladies. There were three new members, Russell Snook from Mareeba, Ray Clegg from Nambour & Andrew Harris from 13^th Beach, welcome to the Vets gents and enjoy your stay with us.

The course was in fantastic condition and the weather was equally as good, apart from the scores a great day had by all. Many thanks to the Cades for the condition of the course, I have never seen it better well done guys. Thanks again to Gabi & Wendy for looking after us throughout the day.

PRESIDENT REPORT –CAIRNS GOLF CLUB 01 Jun 21

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at Cairns Golf Club and there were 76 players consisting of 64 men & 12 ladies. There was one new member, Graham Midgley from HMBGC, welcome to the Vets Graham. A very good turnout today considering it rained most of the evening but today ended up being sunny and almost all players got home before a couple of sprinkles hit later in the day. The course was very damp underfoot but playable thanks to the grounds staff, the preferred lies throughout did make conditions a little easier to manage.

Our sponsor today was GOLF WORLD, many thanks to them for sponsoring us and if any members purchase goods from Golf World please let them know you are a “Vet” as they register all sales to our members to assist in ongoing sponsorship.

Russ returned from his trek to Brissy, many thanks to Pete for captaining in Russ`s absence, Pete is obviously happy as well judging by his score today. Good to see the Finches back from way down south, they escaped from Vic just in time and will be with us for a few months.
