FNQVGA elevates (440m) to the drier end of the Atherton Tableland next Tuesday when we are the guests of the Mareeba Golf Club. Typically known for its pacey smallish greens, well groomed fairways and abundance of fauna, the Mareeba club has had a long association with Far North Queensland veteran golf. The FNQVGA foundation president in 1983 was Mareeba newsagent and sporting goods proprietor Fred Frazer. Fred, an ex-Sydney policeman, was a difficult man to get along with and his tenure only lasted 18 months!
