Next Game Gordonvale MONDAY 4 Nov

All,

Our game next week is on MONDAY, thereby allowing you plenty of time to get your bets on for the Melbourne Cup the day after.

The comp is a single stableford & the day is sponsored by Cazalys.

I'm advised the course is in good condition & a new greenkeeper has recently started.  From the look of the fairways along the road there will be plenty of run on them, but I expect that the dry spell will have seen plenty of leaves deposited in the rough, so you'll just have to hit it straight!

See you there.

President's Report

A beautiful day with a pleasant breeze brought 78
men & 14 ladies to Atherton. The course was in good condition with plenty of run on the fairways although the greens confused with either some unexpected breaks or none at all when some were expected. However, scores were good in general.  Congratulations to the greens staff.

Thanks to Owen & Debbie for looking after us as usual & the club for sponsoring the day.

Welcome to visitors Wally Alston of Tambo Valley, Ross Ellen, guest & Peter Marriott of Taroom.
Congratulations to Thomas Stager for a hole in one at the 18th.

Next game is at Gordonvale on the MONDAY before the Melbourne Cup, ie on 4 Nov, which is a single stableford.

Next Game Atherton 29 Oct

All,

Our game next week is at Atherton & is a single stableford.

As all our main trophy events are over, we are busy collating results & arranging trophy engraving, so you can relax, enjoy the day & probably play better than you do normally!

I'm told the course is in good condition with no unusual surprises awaiting us & I'm sure Debbie will be preparing her usual excellent sandwiches for lunch.

See you there.

President's Report & Results
of the Single Stableford Competition
Played on 22nd October
at Millaa Millaa Golf Club

President's Report

Although nothing much was showing up on the weather chart, many members must have woken up, heard the rain & decided to stay in bed, as only 45
men & 10 ladies turned up at Millaa Millaa for our final Patron's Trophy event, so there was only one division awarded for each. However, although we got wet, it was at least not as cold & windy as the last time we played there.
The course was in good condition with the rain slowing the greens considerably & taking a bit of run off the fairways although the ball sat up well on them. Congratulations to the volunteers who maintain the course.
Thanks to Warren Afflick for putting out the NTPs for us & to the ladies for making up plenty of tasty sandwiches for us. We needed them & hot tea & coffee at the break & after.

The sponsors for the day were Masters Home Improvements for the men & Cazalys for the ladies.

Welcome to visitor John Stimpson of Wondai.
This game was the last of our various trophy competitions. The remainder of the games for the year will be single stablefords, apart from the Xmas breakup game on 3 Dec, which is a 2 ball Ambrose.

Next game is at Atherton on 29 Oct. Fingers crossed for a fine day.

Next Game Cairns 15 Oct

All,

Our game next week is at Cairns & is a 4BBB stroke round, sponsored by Cazalys.

In case you don't know how to score it - Both player's handicaps must appear on the card. The strokes a player receives are taken off hole by hole.  Both the Gross score and the Net score of the player whose score is to count must go on the card.  Only one player's score needs to go on the card on each hole.  Each player's score must be identifiable. Only one player plus the marker needs to sign the card.  See below for example.  (Naturally, the markers will enter their scores on the other side of the card as well.)

See you there.

President's Report

49 men & 18 ladies turned up at Babinda on a beautiful day for a Patron's Trophy event. As there were under 60 men, there was only one division awarded for them & one for the ladies.

The course was in good condition with plenty of run on the fairways which brought drains into play if you were trying to lay up short of them. It is certainly a different course than when it is wet. Congratulations to the volunteers who maintain the course.

Thanks to Di Diversi who printed off a bundle of measurements to the drains. Thanks also to Wal Anthony for putting out the NTPs for us & to Tom Stager for supplying a bucket of balls to make up for those which ended up in the drains!

Thanks to the ladies for looking after us with cakes & sandwiches as well as manning the bar at the club. We sponsored the day as Colin was unable to pick up the vouchers from Masters, but we hope they will sponsor another day instead.

Welcome to visitors Ray Smith of Babinda, whose local knowledge paid dividends with a win!

Next game is at Cairns on 15 Oct, which is a 4BBB Stroke round.

Next Game Babinda 8 Oct

All,

Our game next Tuesday is at Babinda & is a single stableford round counting towards the Patron's Trophy.

Sponsor for the day is Masters Home Improvements.

Tom Stager tells me that he fossicks for lost balls on the course (I think after they have stopped rolling), keeping the poorer quality ones for the juniors & selling the good ones to assist the club, so make sure you use only your best ones for him to find!

See you there.
