President Report & results for Millaa Millaa GC 28 Jul 20

PRESIDENT REPORT –MILLAA MILLAA GOLF CLUB 28 Jul 20

Hi Members,

Today`s game at Millaa Millaa GC was a single stableford event, there were 69 players today consisting of 53men & 16 ladies. We had one visitor, Chris Burn from Deniliquin who is still in Cairns visiting his mate Ray Greig. There were three new members, John Reynolds, Dale Stagg & Graham Murray all for Millaa Millaa GC, welcome to the Vets guys and enjoy your stay with us.

The course was in rather good condition and the rough was a little rough but the weather and company made up for everything. Well done to Don and his merry team for the course and also thanks to Margaret & Ross for getting us going and looking after us throughout the day.
Our sponsor today was the REEF CASINO which is a wonderful place to play, I can personnally vouch for their friendly staff, poker machines & tables that always seem to pay, please support them when the occasion arises.

Our stand-in Captain Andrina had a rush of blood and gave out a ball to all those who did not win a prize and remained for the post game Presentation, I think she is getting soft.

Next week`s game will be the first round of our championships at Gordonvale GC and the sponsor is GOLF WORLD. For those wondering if they are eligible to play Lois will have a list of members that meet the criteria at Registration. Members who are not eligible are still able to participate on both days and win the comp of the day but just not the 36 hole championship event.

Hi Members,

The Vets returned to Mossman GC today after a few years absence and the turnout from our members was absolutely fantastic with 94 extremely enthusiastic golfers, great support from you all.

The event today was a single stableford event and as stated above there were 94 players today consisting of 74 men & 20 ladies. The course was in very good condition, congrats to the greens staff and all volunteers who contributed to make our trip very worthwhile. There was some drizzly rain early on but it blew through and ended up with the sun shining.

Many thanks to Lisa for getting us going on time as well as the refreshments provided after the game. I must say a big thank you to John Carney who started communications with us last year for the Vets to return to Mossman GC after a lengthy time away, thanks again John and also thanks to our Committee for authorising this game.

Our sponsor today was Cazaly`s AFL who remain one of our consistent sponsors in these dire times, please support Cazaly`s when the opportunity arises as their sponsorship is greatly appreciated by all.

Next week`s game will be a single stableford event at Millaa Millaa GC and the sponsor is the REEF CASINO hope to see you all there.

Mossman GC Tuesday 21 July

Hi Members,

Next Tuesday`s game will be a single stableford event at Mossman GC and the sponsor will be Cazaly`s AFL.

The clubhouse will be open for registration 0645-0800 and a selection of sandwiches can be ordered & prepaid prior to the game, normal social distancing rules apply and will be for a long time to come judging by whats happening locally and worldwide at the moment. There is no need to write these up every week as they are the same at every club so, as per Atherton last week etc etc.

Upon arrival members will be required to sign in and then proceed to register, please ensure that you have your handicap GA for conversion to the local club. Two tees are available for use and hopefully those that require motorised carts have booked them through Mossman GC.

Hope to see you all there as we have been away for 3 or so years and it will be good to get back to Mossman GC and enjoy another great day at the office.

Regards

PRESIDENT REPORT – ATHERTON GOLF CLUB 14 Jul 20

Hi Members,

Today the Vets returned from the 2020 COVID-19 enforced lockdown to the glorious Atherton Golf Club and it was great to see some old (sorry) familiar smiling faces and also some new members who joined up today.

The game was a single stableford event and there were 88 players today consisting of 73 men & 15 ladies. We had one visitor Bert Smith from Albury and there were five new members, Greg Waugh and Moira Stephens from HMBGC, Peter Brereton from Gordonvale and Rob little & Kerry McDonald from SGA, welcome to the Vets and please enjoy your stay with us.

The course was once again in very good condition and the greens were as fast as ever, congrats to the greenkeeper Brendon who is up for an award tonight as well as the Atherton GC in a National Award Presentation tonight, good luck from the FNQVGA. Many thanks to Cheryl, Irish & Pup for getting us going on time as well as the refreshments provided throughout the day.

Our sponsor today was Stratford Painting Contractors aka Gordon Perry who I`m told will tackle any paint job big or small and at very reasonable rates to our members, your sponsorship is appreciated by our members.

Next week`s game will be a single stableford event at Mossman GC and the sponsor is Cazaly`s AFL, this will be our first game back at Mossman in 3 years and I`m told everyone is looking forward to it.

Finally it was remiss of me today not to mention our Secretary Liz Edmonds special birthday next Saturday and I am not allowed to say her age but the rumour is 70, you never heard it from me.

Vets return to Atherton GC Tuesday 14 July

Hi Members,

Well the wait is finally over and we return to Atherton GC next Tuesday 14 July. The game of the day will be a single stableford event and our sponsor is Stratford Painting Contractors.

Similar restrictions still apply to the playing conditions such as;
Still no NTPs,
Bunkers in play but preferred lies due to no rakes,
Flags remain in,
Gaggles of 4 permitted,
2 per motorised cart also permitted and
2 tee start available.

More good news is that the clubhouse will be open, Cheryl will be there to take lunch orders (pies/sambos etc), the bar is open, course in great condition, presentations after the game permitted inside as 50 pers allowed inside at this stage as numbers may change to the better.

Registration will be between 0645-0800 as normal and it would be much appreciated by Lois & Doug if you could have the correct change of $17 per player, for those new members forms will be available and membership fee of $10 apply.

Please remember that social distancing is still a major component to our recovery from this nasty disease of COVID-19 so please be smart especially at registration, there will be hand sanitiser available and remember to have your GA with you for conversion to handicap for Atherton GC.

Hope to see all of your smiling faces back next Tuesday at Atherton GC and just to let everyone know the following game at Mossman GC is most definitely on and I will post a message for that game next week.

Regards

Robin

FNQVGA shirt orders

Hi Members,

This is a message from our Secretary Liz Edmonds regarding shirt orders;

I will be taking orders for our Vets T-shirts at registration on Tuesday 14th July at Atherton and again at Mossman on the 21st July.

Please pay on the day - $40 for a long or short sleeve shirt and I would appreciate the correct money.

After Mossman I will be completing the order and will let you know when they arrive as COVID-19 has affected everything at the moment including delivery times.
