Next Game Gordonvale GC Tuesday 1st March

 Hi Members,

The next game is a 2 Person Ambrose event at Gordonvale GC on Tuesday 01 Mar 22 and I will just remind you of some rules re the game as there are many variations;

How to Play.

Both players tee off and then select the best ball and both players play from the selected spot and continue to do the same until the ball is in the hole.

Rules

Handicap is 1/4 of your combined handicap,

Medley event, men & women can play together,

6 drives minimum per player and mark the card against the player whose ball was selected,

There will be three prizewinners (1st, 2nd & 3rd) with a ball run and NTPs as per normal.

Hope to see you all there and if you have not got a partner we will pair you up with someone.

PRESIDENT REPORT & RESULTS MAREEBA GOLF CLUB

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event and we had 74 players consisting of 54 men & 20 ladies. There were 3 new members; Brian Smith & Peter Brady from Mareeba and Les Taylor from Millaa Millaa, welcome to the Vets gents.

Our sponsor today was DRUMMOND GOLF so anyone requiring golf equip please drop in and they will look after you. Many thanks to Drummonds for sponsoring the Vets in 2022 your support is much appreciated by our members.

The weather was superb and I only found out when I got home that it rained most of the day in Cairns, gotta love Mareeba.

Before I get into today`s results we had a very special birthday yesterday as Brian Norris turned 90 big ones, congratulations Brian you have achieved a great milestone and you still walk all of the courses, an inspiration to us all. The cake was fantastic Kay good job.

The committee met after the game to discuss various issues and one motion which was passed, the purchase a Point of Sale (POS) machine so we can tap our fees in the future and alleviate cash hangups. Many thanks to our Treasurer, Lois Tait for doing the legwork into the investigation of pros & cons of the POS machine. We hope to be operational within a couple of months so get ready to “tap & go”.

The Tablelands Summer of Golf game next week 22^nd Feb is at Mareeba GC.

Our next game will be a 2 Person Ambrose at Gordonvale GC on the 1^st Mar, hope to see you all there.

PRESIDENT REPORT & RESULTS HALF MOON BAY GOLF CLUB

Hi Members,

Firstly welcome back members to 2022, we are off and running again and it is good to be back with the Vets. Also welcome back to HMBGC as it has been 2 years since we last played there, COVID 19 has a lot to answer for but we now have HMBGC back in our 2022 Program which can only be good news.

Many thanks to the new Manager Tim and outgoing Manager Greg for looking after us today and with all of the recent rains the course was in great condition. The weather was a little hot but we are used to it up here in the Tropics.

Today`s game was a single stableford event and we had 85 players consisting of 66 men & 19 ladies. There were 8 new members; Dee Kotting, Margot Desira, Dick Underwood, Don Freeman, Ken Hudson, Peter Bell, Barry Courtney and Jose Nene all from HMBGC, welcome to the Vets everyone and I hope you enjoy your time with us.

Our sponsor today was Brothers Leagues Club who have backed up again in supporting us this year so please visit their establishment when the occasion arises. I would like to thank Bob Adams (asst treasurer) for turning up today to help out even though he was unable to play, well done Bob.

Next week 8^th Feb the Tablelands Summer of Golf game is at Millaa Millaa. There was an 8 iron handed in today, I will have it with me for our next game at Mareeba in 2 weeks time on 15^th Feb hope to see you all there.
