PRESIDENT REPORT – HALF MOON BAY GOLF CLUB 27 Aug 19

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford at Half Moon Bay Golf Club, a fantastic turnout today as there were 114 starters consisting of 83 men & 31 ladies. There were three visitors, Graeme Lawler, Box Hill, Graeme Ballantine, Copper Club & George Smith from Bathurst. There were seven new members; Tony Neilson, Herbet Egger & Shane Vale from HMBGC, Jimmy Johnson from Millaa, James Pinfield from Gordonvale & Jill & Mike Rashleigh from 1770, welcome everyone to the Vets. The course was in excellent condition and the weather was perfect, a great day out for all golfers, win lose or draw.

Many thanks to all the staff at Half Moon Bay GC and once again to the manager Greg Ferry for donating a slab to be raffled off for those who remained for the presentation of today`s results.

All,

Our next game is a single stableford Consistency event at Half Moon Bay.

There are no surprises awaiting on the course, but players may find more divots than normal because of considerably more traffic than normal, perhaps caused by the closure of Paradise Palms.  If you could take care of repairing your own divot plus one or two more nearby it would be greatly appreciated.

As usual the caterers will be on hand, but if you are likely to feel the need for sustenance after the game, please pre-order before you go out.

President`s Report & today`s results at Atherton GC

PRESIDENT REPORT – ATHERTON GOLF CLUB 20 Aug 19

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford at Atherton Golf Club, there were 81 starters consisting of 67 men & 14 ladies. There were two visitors, Adie & Ron Crispin from NZ who are here for another month or so, welcome back to the far north. The course was in excellent condition although the greens were extremely fast and almost unputtable if you got on the wrong side of the hole and the weather was absolutely perfect.

Many thanks to all the staff at Atherton GC for the presentation of the course but special mention goes to Cheryl for looking after us from go to whoa.

Our sponsor today was the REEF CASINO who provide meal vouchers (very tasty) at the Flinders Bar & Grill inside the Casino, much appreciated by all FNQVGA members.

One of our members got hit in the thigh by an errant tee shot but I have been reliably informed she (Sheriff) is recovering quickly, good to hear Liz.

The committee agreed today to negotiate with Mirage for another game in 2020 hopefully to be held on the last Friday of May at the same price as this year of $35 with cart. When arrangements are finalised this game will be included in our 2020 Program, watch this space.

Our next game is back to a nice simple single stableford, after the two stroke rounds of the Champs.

The event is for the Ted Thomasson trophy & is sponsored by Reef Casino.

I'm advised the course is in great condition no doubt with their usual fast greens.

President`s Report & Results for today`s game at Cairns GC

PRESIDENT REPORT – CAIRNS GOLF CLUB 13 Aug 19

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a stroke event and the 2^nd and final round of the 2019 Championships, there were 96 starters consisting of 78 men & 18 ladies. There was one new member, Graham Johanson from Gordonvale Golf Club welcome aboard Graham. Once again the course was in excellent condition and the weather was as good as we could expect considering it has been snowing down south.

Many thanks to all the staff at Cairns GC for, the condition of the course, behind the bar and providing the sandwiches after the game, much appreciated by all members. There was a left handed club handed in after the game, I have passed it in to the Pro shop if someone has lost it.

Our sponsor today was GOLF WORLD who was also our sponsor for the two day championships at CGC. Many thanks to GOLF WORLD for their sponsorship over the championships for without them the fees would most certainly be much higher than they are. The same reminder as per last week for those receiving winners/runners up vouchers, these vouchers have already passed their use by date however, the vouchers will be honoured upon presentation to Golf World.

When all trophy recipients have been worked out they will be presented at our Xmas break up function on 03 Dec at Cairns GC.

Finally I would like to thank the FNQVGA Committee members for ensuring that all elements of the championships went like clockwork over the two games without incident. Well done team.

Next Tuesday will be a stroke event, the 2nd round of the FNQVGA 2019 championships at Cairns Golf Club. The course is in great shape and ready for some good scoring.

 Please ensure that you mark your stableford scores on your card as they need to be completed for handicap purposes otherwise Wal & Andrina have to calculate them on your behalf which is not a good look.

PRESIDENT REPORT – CAIRNS GOLF CLUB 06 Aug 19

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a stroke event, the 1^st round of the 2019 Championships, there were 102 starters consisting of 82 men & 20 ladies. There were two new members, Derek Taylor, Half Moon Bay and Jaqui Hall, Warburton welcome to you both. The course was in excellent condition and the weather was equally as good.

Many thanks to the staff at Cairns GC for, the condition of the course, behind the bar and providing the nibblies after the game, much appreciated by all members.

Our sponsor today was GOLF WORLD who is also our sponsor for the two day championships at CGC for both days. Many thanks to GOLF WORLD for their support during the championships for without them our playing costs would skyrocket. Please note the lucky recipients of winners/runners up vouchers for today`s comp, the vouchers have already passed their use by date but this was an oversight by Golf World and all vouchers will be honoured upon presentation to them.

Next weeks game will be the 2^nd round of the championships at CAIRNS GOLF CLUB on 16 Aug 19, good golfing and hope to see you all there. The next game will be the 1st round of the 2019 championships at Cairns Golf Club on Tuesday 6th Aug. The course is in excellent condition and I am not going to mention the weather at all.

Please be aware that if you intend to play in the championships you must pay for the two games next Tuesday at registration as we need to know how many members are participating in the championships. Those members not interested in playing in the champs are quite welcome to play in the comp of the day for both games as per our normal weekly events.
