89 men & 26 ladies turned up at Half Moon Bay to a fine morning for a change, with the course in excellent condition after hosting the Holden Scramble over the weekend. It was great to be able to play without getting one’s feet wet, as even though there were a few minor showers during the day, they were not enough to leave puddles or do more than cause some inconvenience. Congratulations to the greens staff.
Congratulations to Ruth Yelland who took out the Ladies Qld Veteran’s Championship at Mt Coolum. Congratulations also to Mike George who scored a 5 pointer on the 5th today.

Next Game Half Moon Bay 27 May

Our game next week is a single stableford at Half Moon Bay, sponsored by Brothers Leagues Club.
The course is hosting the Holden Scramble on Saturday, so should be in fine condition for us, weather permitting.
Assuming we do not get any heavy rain between now & Tuesday, the full course will be in play, so fingers crossed. (The synoptic weather map does not look too bad.)

PS IMPORTANT - Players need to know their exact Golflink handicap and they are required use that handicap to peruse the Look-up Charts of the course at which they are playing to determine their Daily Handicap. It is the Daily Handicap that MUST go on the player's scorecard, not their exact handicap. Failure to enter the Daily Handicap on the scorecard, will, unfortunately, result in disqualification. There is no requirement to put the exact Golflink Handicap on the card, but entering the player's Daily Handicap is mandatory.

With the current bout of lousy wet weather persisting many members must have decided to roll over & go back to sleep! However, 38 men & 13 ladies braved the conditions & found the course in surprisingly good condition, although preferred lies were the order of the day in the soaking conditions. The greens were also in good order & tracking well. Congratulations to the greens staff. As numbers playing were under 60, there was only one men’s division.
Thanks to Owen & Debbie for looking after us well as usual.

After a heavy predawn shower, the day cleared up to a large extent, although there were some showers & wind gusts later on. However, 69 men & 23 ladies braved the conditions & found the course well mowed and the rough in the drains poisoned but still long lower down where the mowers couldn’t reach yet. The greens are still a work in progress & the club has received advice from the Half Moon Bay greenkeeper on what is needed to bring them up to scratch. Congratulations to the greens staff & volunteers who have worked hard.
Thanks to Manager Phil for running a drinks cart for us & for Jason for looking after the bar.

A beautiful day saw a field of 78 men & 18 ladies turn up to a course in excellent condition with some pins in positions that had tricky breaks. How pleasant to play a course with a bit of run again – we'd almost forgotten what it was! Congratulations to Kevin Moore, the greens staff & volunteers.
We had another new sponsor for the day, Claud Caters Menswear, so if you are looking for some new gear, pop in & have a look at what they have on offer.
