Results Cairns 27.06.2023

A good field of 89 veteran golfers(70 Men and 19 Ladies) played an 18 Hole Individual Stableford  for trophies kindly donated by our major sponsor Drummond Golf. The men played the White course which has a slope rating of 119, compared to the Blue Course of 122. So the course was slightly easier and this was reflected by the good  scores today.

The condition were excellent for our brand of winter golf!  Fine and sunny , even a little warm, with the greens still showing the signs of a protracted wet season which just seems to keep on giving. Apparently another burst of wet weather is forecast for this weekend!

We had one new member today, Marion Moore from Half Moon Bay and George Mission was a visitor from the South Gippsland club of Leongatha. Welcome to you both!

Just a kindly reminder to all players to check your GA and Daily Handicap before you play to save Captain Pete a few more gray hairs.

Athertom 2 Ball Ambrose Tuesday 20 June

The 44 players (36 Men and 8 Ladies) who made the effort to travel to Atherton to play a 2Ball Ambrose this morning were rewarded with one of those breathtaking tablelands early winter days. The golf course was a picture, a joy to play on, and the Ambrose format makes it a bit of fun!

Congratulations must go to Irish and his team of volunteers who prepare the course and Stevie the acting greens keeper. Cheryl always has a happy welcoming face ably supported by Matthew.

Condolences go to Captain Pete who was absent to day due to the funeral of his mother-in-law who passed away recently. Sincere commiserations go out to Peter and his family.

Our sponsors today were  Elements Air and Refrigeration. Owners Paul and Tara Allen are very generous supporters of sports and arts in the community and we thank them very much for their patronage.

Presidents Report and Results Half Moon Bay Tuesday 13 June 2013

An encouraging field of 80 players (65men and 15 ladies) accepted the challenge of a rather bleak outlook, and did their best to conquer Half Moon Bay Golf course this morning. The course was a little vulnerable with three usually difficult holes out of action- the 13th was considerably shortened to 115m and gave up "2 a 6" to Lois, and the 14th and 15 were not played! The course itself was in excellent condition and most players found the greens to their liking.

We welcomed seven new members today. Alison Gibson, John Tehan, Alison Rancourt , Jacques Rancourt and Kevin Newitt all from Half Moon Bay, Henry Bright from Yallourn Golf Club in Gippsland; also Stephen O'Keefe from Ravenshoe Millstream. We hope you enjoy your Vets golfing.

A special thanks to the HMB Club this morning for the complimentary drink after play today by way of compensation for the full course not being playable today- very generous.

Because we played a composite course today, your scores will not be recorded on Golflink so don't go looking!

Queensland Day Mareeba 6 June 23

Hostilities recommence this Tuesday, Queensland Day, with a single Stableford at Mareeba Golf Club which apparently has a new green keeper! Part of the Consistency series our generous sponsor for the day is Davidson Coaching.

Apparently, On 6 June 1859 Queen Victoria signed letters patent to form the colony of Queensland and separate it from New South Wales. And so started that cry that can be heard resonating through the land "Queenslander!"
