President's Report & Results Atherton 30 April

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford event at ATHERTON Golf Club, there were 55 starters consisting of 43 men & 12 ladies. There was 1 new member today, John Norris from Mossman,  welcome to the Vets John. Taking the weather into consideration, 55 was a great rollup and my congratulations to all those who did turn up to play and support the Vets as well as Atherton Golf Club. I think my comments about the weather last week may have had something to do with the ordinary conditions today, I will not mention weather ever again.

Our sponsor today was DRUMMONDS GOLF, much appreciated Darren and many thanks for your continued support to the Vets and hopefully our members are supporting DRUMMONDS in return.

Andrina (VC) & Lois (Treasurer) were absent (golf lessons down south) today and Wal (Cap) is off travelling the countryside, my thanks go out to Russ & Louis for backfilling their role thus ensuring things kept ticking over as per the norm.

Next weeks game will be at CAIRNS GOLF CLUB, hope to see you all there.

To the winners & runners up below please be aware that the vouchers have a 30 day use by date.

Next Game Atherton 30 April

All,

Our next game is a single stableford Consistency event at Atherton.

Sponsor for the day is Drummond Golf Cairns.

There's nothing new to report about the course so with decent weather it should be a good day. However, Lois our Treasurer is away getting her game honed by Charlie Earp & I'll be acting in her place, so you'll have to exercise patience at registration!

See you there.

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford at Gordonvale Golf Club with a good turn up of 90 starters consisting of 71 men & 19 ladies. There was one new member today, Geoff Maguire from Gordonvale GC welcome Geoff. The course was not in the best condition however, the outside (not race track 9) nine had only just been cut so the greens staff have been extremely busy getting the full course ready for our visit, thanks Rob, Mike & helpers as we understand the stress you have been under due to the recent dreadful weather. Our sponsor today was STACKAPOTS courtesy of Allan Dredge, many thanks Al and we have heard nothing but great reports about your product, your support to the Vets is appreciated by all in these trying times.

With Al`s assistance the first draw for the Mirage raffle was made and the winner of $70 is Peter Walters and 2nd place receiving $30 is Judy Ellis, please see Andrina next week for your prize money. The next raffle is well under way, please support these raffles as the profits will provide our daily prizes for the Mirage game in June as it is a non sponsored event. Next weeks game will be at HALF MOON BAY GOLF CLUB hope to see you all there and the club has offered an incentive for members to remain for the presentation by providing a free raffle of a “slab” of amber liquid to one lucky winner.

Gordonvale 16 April - Full Course Open

All,

We've been advised that the full 18 holes will be open for our game tomorrow.

See you there.

Louis

Friday 12 April 2019

Next Game Gordonvale 16 April

All,

Our next game is another single stableford Consistency event at Gordonvale.

Sponsor for the day is Stackapots Vertical Gardens NQ.

The course is slowly being brought back to normal after the long wet season, but machinery has been unable to get into the drains, which have plenty of water in them as well as knee deep rough & greens are still suffering.

Also, the main fairways mower has been unserviceable but just been repaired, so the back 9 holes have been out of action for the last week, but should be back in play for Tuesday.

We'll have an update here on Monday if there is any change to the full course being in play.

See you there.

Louis

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford at Mareeba Golf Club with 83 starters consisting of 65 men & 18 ladies. Our sponsor today was DRUMMOND GOLF who commence their annual US Masters Sale Wednesday 10 Apr so anyone looking for value for money purchases please drop into DRUMMONDS and they will “lift your game”. For today`s winners please be aware that the vouchers are valid for 30 days from yesterday so it would be timely to visit DRUMMONDS sooner rather than later.

Mareeba GC and the weather was perfect and all golfers were pleasantly surprised not to get rained on for a change. Many thanks to Gabi and the crew at Mareeba as everything went smoothly as we now expect when visiting Mareeba Golf Club. Their Open is on this weekend and it all looks good for the club and all players as the course is in great shape thanks to the volunteers out on the course.

Due to the confusion over last weeks cancellation the committee have decided to place a notice on the blog by 5pm on the Monday prior to our game only if the next day`s game is to be cancelled due to weather. Everyone please get into the habit of checking the blog after 5 on Mondays if there appears to be any doubt re the game the next day.

Next weeks game will be at GORDONVALE GOLF CLUB hope to see you all there.

Next Game Mareeba 9 April

All,

Our next game is a single stableford Consistency event at Mareeba.

Sponsor for the day is Drummond Golf.

I'm told the course has had quite a bit of rain but is drying out nicely today, so you may not have as much run as usual & you certainly won't be playing out of the dams!

Gabi is eagerly awaiting our arrival & will no doubt have plenty of her famous apple turnovers available.

See you there.

Louis

Cairns game 2 Apr CANCELLED

All,

We have reluctantly decided to cancel the game tomorrow at Cairns golf club.

The rain at present & that forecast tomorrow will make an already soggy course very difficult if not outright unplayable.

Our next game is at Mareeba on 9 Apr & should be good to go as we all know it never rains at Mareeba!
