Welcome to 2019!
All,
We hope you all had a lovely break over the festive season & are eager to get back into our comps again, no doubt after having had lessons gifted to you by caring family, followed by plenty of practice to maintain the waistline.
The program has been posted to the blog, but copies will be available at our first registration for those who don't like the internet. Our first game will be on 5 Feb at Mareeba.
Below is some information about carts available at the various courses we play and their cost.
Atherton - 8 carts at $35
Babinda - 4 carts at $20
Cairns - heaps of carts at $35
Gordonvale - 15 carts at $30
Half Moon Bay - 28 carts at $30 & if members use their own a $5 charge applies
Mareeba - 13 carts at $35.00
Millaa Millaa - 4 carts at $30
Our accounts are published in our Annual Report but some members may not have been able to attend our AGM, so copies will also be available at registration. You can be thankful to sponsors who enable us to keep costs down, so please think of them if you are looking for items.
See you on 5 Feb.

President's Report & Results Cairns 4 Dec
Hi
Members,
Todays
game was at Cairns GC with 103 starters consisting of 80 men & 23
ladies. Today's sponsor was Stratford Painting Contractor (SPC), Mr
Gordon Perry who unfortunately, due to work commitments could not
attend today`s game. Many thanks Gordon for your support throughout
2018 and also for continuing into 2019, much appreciated by all
members.
The
weather was slightly cooler than the recent extreme heat in our
Region. All players kept the fluids up & enjoyed the final game for
2018. Many thanks to Chloe for organising and managing the Xmas
luncheon which went down a treat by all Vets members reports.
Attendances
by our sponsors was also well received as it provided an opportunity
for members to come face to face with those businesses supporting the
FNQVGA. Attending sponsors were, Wal Anthony (Babinda GC), Bob
Westerman (Golf World), Alan Dredge (Stack-a-pots), Scott Payne
(Complete Health & Fitness) and Darren Golder (Drummonds). I
would also like to thank all of our other sponsors, Kennedy`s Betta
Home Living, Cape York Accounting, Brothers Leagues Club, Cazaly`s
and Half Moon Bay Golf Club for supporting us throughout 2018.
My
thanks and appreciation to the committee members both outgoing and
incoming for their excellent work week to week and in particular to
the manner in which today`s game was arranged and organised, worked a
treat, well done to all.
The
FNQVGA will resume competitions on 5 Feb, but theTablelands Summer of Golf will
commence next week, 1st game at Millaa Millaa at 0830.
These games will be run by the individual Golf Clubs and they would
appreciate your support over this period.
Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone and hope to see your
smiling faces sooner rather than later.

Next Game & Xmas Breakup Lunch Cairns 4 Dec
All,
Our next game is another easy 4BBB stableford at Cairns golf club. The game is sponsored by Stratford Painting Contractors.
PLEASE NOTE registration will be from 6.30 as we have a shotgun start at 7.30. Cost for the game is $30 & the Association will be subsidising a further $15.
This is our final game of the season & we have our breakup lunch after the game at 12.30 sharp. Groups will be allocated tables, with table numbers being shown on the board when your names go up.
You may find yourselves seated at a table with one of our sponsors. If so, please introduce yourselves & let them know how much their sponsorship is appreciated. Without them your fees would be considerably higher.
In the past there have been some complaints from groups being held up by slow play & missing out on some of their meal, so please keep up with the group ahead, or the group behind you will be trampling over you to get to the prawns on time!
See you there.

PS Our first game next year is on 5 Feb at Mareeba, giving you plenty of time to have lessons & practice.

President's Report & Results Gordonvale 27 Nov
Hi
Members,
Todays
game was at Gordonvale GC with 54 starters consisting of 45 men &
9 ladies.
Todays sponsor was GOLF WORLD who also sponsored the FNQVGA
Annual Championships at Atherton GC. Many thanks to GW for their
continued support.
The
weather was extremely hot and all starters completed the 18 holes
with much assistance from Belinda, Claud, Chris and the Schweppes rep
who continually delivered cold water/ice & drinks throughout the
day. There was much debate regarding the weather to either cancel,
reduce to a 9 hole comp or continue as programmed with the latter
agreed to and all members did their part by playing through the heat.
The course, in particular the greens were very good and in great
condition considering that there has been no rain to talk of. Congrats to Rob and Mike for their work on the course.
The
AGM proceeded as planned and we breezed through all agenda items in
record time. Outgoing Treasurer John (& Chris) were duly thanked
for their dedication and service to the FNQVGA Committee for 3 years,
well done to you both. Great job Greg Gibb as outgoing Pres. You are
sorely missed. The new Treasurer, Lois Tait is eagerly awaiting to
commence her tenure along with her assistant Doug Christison. Wal
Anthony, Captain, Andrina Wilson, Vice Captain, Bob Billingham, Shirt
Manager & fill-in, myself, President, Russ Gill, Vice
President & Louis Siedle continuing as Secretary were all confirmed as the new committee. Welcome all.
All
annual trophies were presented to winners in all grades, those not
present can pick up their trophies & vouchers next week at
Cairns, names of all winners are included in the minutes of our AGM.
The
Tablelands Summer of Golf program is on the website.
Next
weeks game will be a 4BBB stableford shotgun start at 0730 at Cairns Golf Club
to be followed by our XMAS luncheon around 1230.

Next Game, AGM & Presentations Gordonvale 27 Nov
All,
Next Tuesday our Annual General Meeting will be held at Gordonvale golf club starting at 8am sharp. Please make sure you sign the attendance sheets that will be at the entrance to the club.
Immediately following the AGM we will have a shotgun start at 8.30, so you need to be registered before the start of the AGM. Registration will be at the usual time of 7-8.
The game is a nice easy 4BBB stableford, but beware, as the grass in the drains is fairly long again! Greens are continuing to improve, but there are plenty of fallen leaves amongst the trees which balls have a habit of snuggling into, so the aim, as always, is to stay on the fairway.
Sponsor for the day is Golf World Cairns.
After the game we will be having our trophy presentations to the winners of our various annual competitions as well as the daily comp. presentations. As we have a shotgun start, we should be finishing together, so please stay on to applaud the trophy winners.
