Next Game Gordonvale 16 April

All,

Our next game is another single stableford Consistency event at Gordonvale.

Sponsor for the day is Stackapots Vertical Gardens NQ.

The course is slowly being brought back to normal after the long wet season, but machinery has been unable to get into the drains, which have plenty of water in them as well as knee deep rough & greens are still suffering.

Also, the main fairways mower has been unserviceable but just been repaired, so the back 9 holes have been out of action for the last week, but should be back in play for Tuesday.

We'll have an update here on Monday if there is any change to the full course being in play.

See you there.

Louis

President's Report & Results Mareeba 9 Apr

Hi Members,

Today`s game was a single stableford at Mareeba Golf Club with 83 starters consisting of 65 men & 18 ladies. Our sponsor today was DRUMMOND GOLF who commence their annual US Masters Sale Wednesday 10 Apr so anyone looking for value for money purchases please drop into DRUMMONDS and they will “lift your game”. For today`s winners please be aware that the vouchers are valid for 30 days from yesterday so it would be timely to visit DRUMMONDS sooner rather than later.

Mareeba GC and the weather was perfect and all golfers were pleasantly surprised not to get rained on for a change. Many thanks to Gabi and the crew at Mareeba as everything went smoothly as we now expect when visiting Mareeba Golf Club. Their Open is on this weekend and it all looks good for the club and all players as the course is in great shape thanks to the volunteers out on the course.

Due to the confusion over last weeks cancellation the committee have decided to place a notice on the blog by 5pm on the Monday prior to our game only if the next day`s game is to be cancelled due to weather. Everyone please get into the habit of checking the blog after 5 on Mondays if there appears to be any doubt re the game the next day.

Next weeks game will be at GORDONVALE GOLF CLUB hope to see you all there.
Robin Pres.

Next Game Mareeba 9 April

All,

Our next game is a single stableford Consistency event at Mareeba.

Sponsor for the day is Drummond Golf.

I'm told the course has had quite a bit of rain but is drying out nicely today, so you may not have as much run as usual & you certainly won't be playing out of the dams!

Gabi is eagerly awaiting our arrival & will no doubt have plenty of her famous apple turnovers available.

See you there.

Louis

Cairns game 2 Apr CANCELLED

All,

We have reluctantly decided to cancel the game tomorrow at Cairns golf club.

The rain at present & that forecast tomorrow will make an already soggy course very difficult if not outright unplayable.

Our next game is at Mareeba on 9 Apr & should be good to go as we all know it never rains at Mareeba!

Next Game Cairns Golf Club 2 Apr

All,

Our next game is the start of our trophy comps for the year & from now on we will be playing weekly, hopefully with no further weather related cancellations.

It is a single stableford Consistency round at Cairns Golf Club.

As you would expect, there will be little run on the course, but if there is no more rain over the next few days it should be pretty well drained.

Sponsor for the day is Health & Fitness Solutions.

See you there.

6 & 7 April - 2019 Ravenshoe Millstream Country Club Open 36 hole stroke event.  Details from Tarnia Wright email ravgolf@hotmail.com.

President's Report & Results Atherton 19 Mar

Hi Members,

Today`s game was back to normal with a single stableford at Atherton Golf Club with 40 starters consisting of 34 men & 6 ladies. Today`s sponsor was the REEF CASINO, a new sponsor for the FNQVGA in 2019 and hopefully will become a regular sponsor in the coming years, welcome to the REEF CASINO.

Congratulations to the brave 40 members who turned up for a game and nearly all completed their round as the weather was very ordinary but the course was in good condition considering the amount of rain that has hit us recently. Well done guys and gals a credit to you all for persevering.

Everyone should be now aware of the Mirage game programmed for Friday 14 June @ $35 per head incl buggy. For nominations please see Bob Billingham at registration as he has prepared a spreadsheet for those intending to play and will gladly accept the $35. This game was extremely popular last year and will fill up fast.

The Mirage game is an add on to our program and therefore we do not have a sponsor so the committee has decided to run 3 x 100 raffles @ $2 a tkt with prizes of $70 for 1st & $30 for 2nd for each of the 3 raffles which realises $300 for the lucky winners and $300 for the daily trophy winners so in effect our members be our own sponsor for the Mirage game. Please see either Bob or Andrina at registration to purchase a ticket.

The FNQVGA next game will be at Cairns on 02 Apr and Mareeba will be the venue for the final game of the Tablelands Summer of Golf next week as the Vets will resume our weekly games as programmed.
