Hi Members,
Well the wait is finally over and we return to Atherton GC next Tuesday 14 July. The game of the day will be a single stableford event and our sponsor is Stratford Painting Contractors.
Similar restrictions still apply to the playing conditions such as;
Still no NTPs,
Bunkers in play but preferred lies due to no rakes,
Flags remain in,
Gaggles of 4 permitted,
2 per motorised cart also permitted and
2 tee start available.
More good news is that the clubhouse will be open, Cheryl will be there to take lunch orders (pies/sambos etc), the bar is open, course in great condition, presentations after the game permitted inside as 50 pers allowed inside at this stage as numbers may change to the better.
Registration will be between 0645-0800 as normal and it would be much appreciated by Lois & Doug if you could have the correct change of $17 per player, for those new members forms will be available and membership fee of $10 apply.
Please remember that social distancing is still a major component to our recovery from this nasty disease of COVID-19 so please be smart especially at registration, there will be hand sanitiser available and remember to have your GA with you for conversion to handicap for Atherton GC.
Hope to see all of your smiling faces back next Tuesday at Atherton GC and just to let everyone know the following game at Mossman GC is most definitely on and I will post a message for that game next week.
Regards
Robin

FNQVGA shirt orders
Hi Members,
This is a message from our Secretary Liz Edmonds regarding shirt orders;
I will be taking orders for our Vets T-shirts at registration on Tuesday 14th July at Atherton and again at Mossman on the 21st July.
Please pay on the day - $40 for a long or short sleeve shirt and I would appreciate the correct money.
After Mossman I will be completing the order and will let you know when they arrive as COVID-19 has affected everything at the moment including delivery times.
Regards
Robin

Eligibility to play 2020 Championships
Hi Members,
This is to advise members of the eligibility requirements to participate in this year`s championships at Gordonvale GC in August.
The 2 elements required are;
1. Must be a financial member for at least 2 months and
2. Must have played at least 3 events this year.
However, the Committee have decided to remove the 2 months membership caveat due to the fact that we have missed the past 4 months of play because of COVID-19.
The 3 game eligibility requirement is still required as there has been 4 games already this year and there are still 3 games available to play prior to the championships in August for members to meet the eligibility requirements.
Members who do not meet this criteria are still permitted to participate in the championships and play in the comp of the day but not able to win the honour board event.
If further clarification is required please do not hesitate to call.

The loss of one of our members
Today I am the bearer of some very sad news, Brian Rowan, one of our long time members passed away last Thursday from the dreaded cancer. Brian`s smiling face will be missed at all future Vets games and members still talk about the time he hit 54 stableford points which not many players have or will ever achieve.
Brian`s funeral will be held at St Monicas Cathedral next Monday 29 June at 10am for those able to attend. From the Committee and all members, our deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

Vets return 14 July Atherton GC
Hi Members,
The FNQVGA Committee have now decided to return to our 2020 program on Tuesday 14 July 20 as all clubs should be open by then, utilising 2 tees, 4 to a gaggle, perhaps 2 per cart, hopefully NTPs and we should be able to conduct our weekly presentations on the day.
This makes complete sense and brings us into line with Stage 3 of the Qld Gov`s Roadmap to Easing Restrictions. Unless there has been a major turnaround with the status of the COVID-19 within communities throughout Australia, in particular Qld we will return on Tuesday 14 July at Atherton GC.
I know everyone is looking forward to the Vets return but we have to think of everyone`s health & safety whilst still abiding by all of the authorities guidelines and it is therefore our intention to get the timing right so we can resume as per the 2020 Program.
