Results Atherton Tuesday 10 October 2023

An improving  field of 41 players (35 men and 6 ladies) played  an individual stableford in near perfect conditions on the tablelands on Tuesday. Beautifully mild weather and a perfectly presented course made for a very enjoyable mornings golf.

Our President Elect, Peter Clarke thanked  the Atherton golf club for the warm welcome especially Cheryl, Irish, and Rhys in the clubhouse and Brendan and his team on the course. It was interesting to see the redevelopment of the 13th green which will be completed by the start of next year.

Once again the support of our very generous sponsor Cazalys, remember to gamble responsibly!

For those who ordered new shirts , they should be ready at Mossman.

Your scribe apologizes for the lack of photos this week, but none of them passed quality control.

Results Millaa Millaa Tuesday 3 October

That typical Millaa Morn that clears into a beautiful day.

Once the fozzle* cleared the 29 players who traveled to Millaa Millaa this morning enjoyed a beautifully mild day to play the last round of the Patrons Trophy. The 18 Hole stableford competition was sponsored by Hotel Reef Casino and we thank them for their generous support.

The hospitality was once again exemplary thanks to retiring Millaa president of the last 14 years Don, Margaret and the laconic Hughie behind the bar.

All players were in good voice today as they sang "Happy Birthday" to Peter Johnston  who celebrated his 74 birthday today. And they said you would never make it!

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING TUESDAY 21 NOVEMBER 2023 MAREEBA

The FNQVGA does -that's who.
Next months AGM is not that far away and its time to start thinking about how we can keep the Association prospering in 2024. The FNQVGA doesn't run itself, and you might be the person we are looking for.

We have had a good year in 2023; and,  we owe a lot of thanks to our Captain Peter Wyatt who has not only been a very diligent captain but has been our acting President and has done both jobs admirably. We have had indications from members that they will take on roles next year, but,it would helpful if someone would see their way clear to take over the Captain's job (only).

If this is you,  please see any  committee members over the next couple of weeks and we can help you with question you might have about the position. The remuneration is poor but the satisfaction is high.
