President's Report

110 men & 18 ladies turned up at Half Moon Bay to a course in excellent condition after their Schweppes Classic comp at the weekend & perfect weather. A comment was passed at registration that the greens staff were just rolling the greens, so be prepared for them being fast & so they were!  However, they were true & the only problem was deciding how to approach them, as when it hit, the ball just kept on rolling. Congratulations to the greens staff who were out pruning, working on new cart paths & on the causeway which will form the new 3rd.

Thanks to the caterers for looking after us well as usual. The hamburgers were obviously popular as they ran out, but we have a promise that enough rolls will be on hand for our next game there. Thanks also to Brothers Leagues Club for sponsoring the event.

Welcome to visitors Charlie Langham of Wauchope, Colin Hands of Wundowie, Vince Crow of Logan, Henry Lee & Roy Young of Redcliffe, Albert Smith of Albury & Barrie Gaudian of Cobram Barooga & to our new member Jon Shearer of Mareeba. Our membership for the year now stands at 303.

Commiserations to Gordon Thomas whose remote controlled buggy decided it would like to embrace his love of cruising & took off into the creek on the 13th when he took his eye off it for a moment. As it wasn't designed to float it will not doubt be consigned to the sinbin for a suitable period for refurbishment & until it learns manners!

Next game is at Mareeba on 6 August, which is the first round of our Championships & therefore a stroke round - no more easy stableford games for a couple of weeks.
