CAPTAINS REPORT

The Cairns Golf Course, despite having the greens sanded, played very well and provided a good test for all players. Some of the first round leaders consolidated their positions whilst others found difficulty in maintaining their positions.

The winner of the FNQVGA Championship Plaque was Dave Lawler with a Gross score of 160 from a fast finishing George Studham on 163.

B Grade was won by Wayne Hoger who overtook Neil Sharkey in the final round to win 186 to 188.

The C Grade Champion was Ken Smithson who won with a score of 206 from Trevor Barry on 207.

The Ladies Champion was Ruth Yelland who maintained her first round lead to have a comfortable win from Lil Benfield. Lil was extremely happy with the way she had played during the championships, particularly with her first round score.

The Stanton/Baily Trophy, which was an aggregate of the net scores from the respective round played at Half Moon Bay and the two rounds of the Championship, was won by Greg Gibb with an aggregate net score of 216 from Ron Sylvester on 220.

The Age events will be calculated in the next couple of weeks and will be announced at a later date.
