President's Report & Results Mareeba 31 Oct

Today we played a single stableford event at Mareeba. We scheduled the game on a Monday because of the pseudo holiday that seems to be observed for Melbourne Cup. Only 53 men and 7women played so one wonders if we should not just ignore a horse race that is 3000 kilometers away in future, I welcome members feedback on this!

The sponsor today was DRUMMOND GOLF of Cairns and we thank them again for the support given to our club.

Many of you may have heard that Ian Schofield had his car windscreen broken by a rock from a mower on the railway line last week. That went well for Ian when Queensland Rail came good with the cost of a new windscreen, however, today he was a little less fortunate when a ball he played disappeared into a kangaroos pouch. It seems that the approaching ball alarmed the joey and as he made a dive for the safety of mums pouch the ball went in too. The ball was not recoverable and the lousy roo did not even offer to reimburse poor Ian for the ball!

After a little research I found that rule 19-1a applies and the roo is an outside agency and a ball must be dropped directly under the spot where the ball disappeared into the pouch with no penalty to Ian ( but I am not so sure about the mother and joey).

RESULTS.
