Summer of Golf Program 2024/2025

 The Summer of Golf is a program run by the three Tableland Clubs to give you somewhere to play 18 Holes on a Tuesday. It is supported by the FNQVGA but not run by it. It is usually an 18 Hole Medley Stableford which tees off from 8am.

PATRONS AND CONSISTENCY TROPHIES

 The Patrons Trophy is awarded to the best aggregate stableford for the three games played at the three 9 Hole courses, namely Babinda Golf Club, Millaa Millaa Golf Club and Innisfail Golf Club.

Consistency Trophies are warded to the male & female players who have the highest stableford aggregate over their best ten (10) of the nominated single stableford events played within the FNQVGA Inc. calendar year.

 

This year the trophies were presented by current QVGU President and AVGU Vice-President Jeff Cruickshank who is a FNQVGA member.

2024 Holes-in-One

During 2024 we had three players achieve the ultimate shot- a Hole-in-one.

Peter Walters aced the 11th Hole at Half Moon Bay on 23 July.

We had to wait until 15 October when Chris Ireland put it in the hole on the 5th in Gordonvale. It was Chris's second HIO after a very short golfing career.

And we only had to wait two more weeks for Dave Jackson to score on the 3rd hole at Half Moon Bay on 29 October.

Cairns Tuesday 26 November Results.

A very happy field of  85 FNQVGA golfers (66 men and 19 ladies) enjoyed a very well presented Cairns Golf Club this morning for our final game of the year and Christmas lunch. How good does Cairns look at the moment? The place is really going forward. 

Thanks to everyone associated at the Club for making it a very memorable day. A great  lunch prepared by Tropic Spirit Catering and served very professionally by the Cairns Golf Club Team.

And the golf was exceptional  as well, with a four way count back being called on to decide the winner in the Mens Division 1. An 44 stableford points winning the Ladies.

We were grateful to have some of our major sponsors with us today for lunch. Steven Wertheim representing Drummond Golf was on hand to present prizes and trophies. He definitely wants to be back next year. Glenn Donovan from Oak Tree Retirement Villages Cairns reaffirmation sponsorships of next years Oak tree Cup.  And Dr Nathan Bridge is keen to keep the association of Chiropractic Works with FNQVGA going.

RESULTS MAREEBA TUESDAY 19 NOVEMBER

 A very good field of 64 FNQVGA golfers (51men and 13 ladies) played a single stableford following the successful Annual General Meeting this morning. The weather was very warm and the course as is all courses in the north was dry and full of running. The greens were what we have come to expect in Mareeba these days- very consistent and of good pace. Thanks again to Karl and his team for the preparation of the course.

The shotgun start ensured that there was a good crowd in the clubhouse for presentations and a little bit of early Christmas cheer. Thanks to Owen and Debbie for getting the early filed going and to Brian behind the bar for keeping us well watered. Owen, who has retired from the Presidency of the Mareeba Golf Club thanked the Association  for being good supporters of the Mareeba Golf Club and vice versa.

CAIRNS TUESDAY 26 NOVEMBER PRESENTATIONS.CHRISTMAS LUNCH

 

FNQVGA end of year presentations and Christmas lunch will be held at Cairns Golf Club on Tuesday 26 November. There will be an 18 Hole single stableford for Men and Ladies.

Tee off promptly 7.30am shotgun start.

Nominate: NOW if you haven't already done so, by either an email to fnqvga@outlook.com, or phone or message Ron Blake 0407925903. Nominations will be taken on the day.

Lunch: Served from 12.30pm. It would be very helpful to the match committee and caterers if all players and guests could be in the clubhouse at 12noon.
