President's Message 7th December 2010

The weather cleared and we had a great day at Atherton Golf Club. There were 94 players who enjoyed the course, the weather conditions and the company.

The course is in very good condition, the greens, excellent.

Thank you Atherton Golf Club for sponsoring today’s event and all the other events held at Atherton Golf Club.

We are nearing the end of our 2010 season, it has been a successful year, with good attendance numbers at all courses and great attitude by our members. Thank you for your participation and co-operation.

Next Tuesday, 14^th December 2010 at Cairns Golf Club we are holding the Annual Christmas Lunch and Presentation after playing a 2 Ball Ambrose. It is a shotgun start at 8:30am, that means all players need to be booked in by 8:15am. Please arrange a partner for the 2 Ball Ambrose, but if you are looking for a partner, we will find one for you. The cost is $27 for members and $50 for visitors. The 2 Ball Ambrose event is sponsored by Easylift.

The 2011 Program will be available for distribution on Tuesday, also I will email a copy to everybody on my email list.

Don’t forget the Tableland Summer of Golf commencing at Atherton on Dec. 21^st. This is conducted by the Tableland Golf Clubs. Programs will be available at Cairns Golf Club on Tuesday

President's Message 30th November 2010

All,

102 players played at Gordonvale Golf Club today, this was a very good number considering the weather outlook. Gordonvale presented the Vets with a very good course in light of the amount of rain they have had.

Thank you to ONE Golf at Gordonvale for sponsoring todays event and most of the events held at Gordonvale in 2010.

The AGM was held prior to playing golf. There were as many people at the AGM as there were playing. Thank you for your attendance.

There are only two more games for 2010, Tuesday 7^th December at Atherton Golf Club, Single Stableford and second leg of the Patrons Trophy as the game at Babinda was washed out. Tuesday 14^th December is our Christmas Lunch and Presentation, this is 8:30am Shot gun Start. Would appreciate all players book in prior to 8:15am to allow time to get out on the Tees. It is a 2 Ball Ambrose, ideally arrange your own 2 Ball, if not we will arrange pairings. Cost of the Christmas Lunch with Golf is members $27, visitors $50.

Babinda Cancelled

All,

Please be advised that the Babinda game tomorrow has been CANCELLED.

The course had 6 inches of rain yesterday & it's still raining, so the course is very sloppy!  The Babinda President advised that it is most unlikely it would be fit to play tomorrow.

If you are in touch with anyone who normally plays in the veterans, who is not on the internet, please let them know of the cancellation.

We will advise what will be done about second round of the Patron's Trophy in due course.

Vice President's Report 16th November 2010

All,

As I've had no emails from President Ross spruiking about how well our members had done in the National Championships at Port Macquarie, I must assume they are drowning their sorrows!

The Cairns course was in great condition and the forecast rain avoided us, so some respectable scores were returned, with winners enjoying good prizes supplied by Golf World who sponsored the event.

We welcomed two visitors, Sandy Jamieson from Headland and Peter Billingham from Beerwah and a new member, Des Jones from Half Moon Bay Golf Club.

Our Treasurer is still eagerly accepting subscriptions for 2011. Please present your Membership card for validation when paying.

We have FNQVGA shirts in various sizes available at $30 for short sleeves & $35 for long.

Also, we have had a quote for nametags since several people have suggested they would be a good idea. Please let me know if you want one. The cost is $7.

Next games are at Babinda on 23rd November, and Gordonvale on 30^th November both Single Stableford, with the former being the second round of the Patron's Trophy. 


The Gordonvale game will be a shotgun start at 8.30am following our AGM which starts at 8am.
