President's Report

A poor field of 34 men and 8 ladies turned up to contest the last round of the Patron’s Trophy.  Perhaps the weather in Cairns dissuaded coastal players from making the trip, which was a pity, as the day, although blustery, was fine & pleasantly cool.  The course was in good condition with run on the fairways & some pins had interesting breaks.  Congratulations to all the volunteers.

Thanks to Cazalys AFL for sponsoring the day, the ladies who looked after us with raisin toast & cake on arrival before preparing the sandwiches ordered, & Hughie on the bar.

Congratulations to Rod Cade for his hole in one on the 1st & thanks to the club for awarding him an eagles pin & bottle of red.  Happy Birthday Capt Greg & sorry we forgot the cake!

Our next game is at Atherton, but if you fancy a weekend on the Tablelands to combine a bit of sighseeing with golf, Millaa have a weekend comp on 8/9 Nov comprising a 4 ball Ambrose on the first day, followed by a stroke round the next.  More info from Ross on 4097 2286.

Our game next Tuesday is a single stableford at Millaa Millaa.  It is the last round of the Patron's Trophy & is sponsored by Cazalys AFL.

I'm advised the course is in good condition with plenty of run & the greens have dried out despite copious watering, so there should be some good scores.

It's that time of year again, as the AGM draws near, that we seek nominations from anyone interested in serving on the Management Committee for the next year.

If you have any concerns about how things are being run, or changes you feel that could be made to improve things, now is the time to put your name forward, so don't be shy!

Unless you are very new to the Association, you know from seeing us in action at registration roughly what is involved if you are on the Committee, but if you have any questions about meetings & other responsibilities, please speak to any of the Committee members at registration, or any other time you can buttonhole them.

If you feel you can give some time to the Association, please copy & paste the nomination form below, print it off, complete it & hand it in to Secretary June at registration, before 10 Nov. although we would prefer it sooner.

76 men & 27 ladies turned up on a beautiful day for a comp providing a bit of a break from stablefords.   The course was in great condition and even the 3 temp greens were good to putt on.   Congratulations to the greens staff.  

Thanks to Calanna Pharmacy for sponsoring the day and Bec & Chloe who prepared the sandwiches & ran the bar.

Welcome to visitors Russell Spencer of Calliope.  Interesting to see Wal Anthony taking his buggy for a swim on the 16th - he must have been feeling the heat!  Lucky he is tall as the dam is deeper than it seems.

Our next game is the final round of the Patron’s Trophy at Millaa Millaa which should be a good day if the weather holds up.

Our game next Tuesday is a 2 ball Ambrose at Cairns, sponsored by Calanna Pharmacy.

If you want to play with someone in particular, please DON'T put in a card for them if they have not arrived.  Wait till they do before going to register & pay, or you will annoy whoever is writing up the board if they have to reschedule you (probably to the end of the field).

I'm told the course is in good condition with slick greens.  There are 3 temporary greens on the 2nd, 4th & 13th, but they are apparently quite good.
