President's Report & Open Results Cairns 23 Jun

Day 2 of our annual open tournament got off to a shakey start as the weather during the night and early in the morning was anything but favourable. However, by about 8.30 AM the sky cleared and those golf “tragics” who refuse to surrender were rewarded with a reasonable day. The course was quite damp and preferred lies were available and bunkers were deemed GUR.

We thank our sponsor DEBORAH DUFFY REAL ESTATE for providing the prizes that we all competed for and the buggy that was raffled during the tournament.

Despite the early rain there were 74 men and 20 ladies ventured onto the course. We welcomed 20 visitors to the field and promise them that normal winter weather will soon be restored and they can attend our future events with confidence.

I take this opportunity to thank all the members of our committee for all the work done to make the event a success, I also thank Manager Matt Bolton of Cairns Golf Club and his staff for the assistance and advice during and prior to the event.

Mens div 1 winner; Ross White 37 points.

Mens div 1 runner up; George Studham 36 points.

Mens div 2 winner; Bill Ford 37 points.

Mens div 2 runner up; John Pilbin 35 points.

Ladies winner; Kerry Gallagher 35 points.

Ladies runner up; Ruth Yelland 29 points.

NTP Men; 5^th Keith Schirmer, 8^th Ross White, 11^th Graham Morrow, 17^th Peter Yelland.

NTP Ladies; 5^th & 8^th Ruth Yelland, 11^th Lois Tait, 17^th Lil Benfield.

Mens div1 winner; Peter Yelland 71 points

Mens div1 runner up Ross White 69 points.

Mens div 2 winner; Bill Ford 78 points.
