President's Report

Perfect weather greeted 102 men & 21 ladies when they turned up to compete in the final round of our Championship. The course was in fine condition & the greens were fast as we had been warned, with some of the pins in tricky positions, which seemed to pose problems for many players! Congratulations to the greens staff.

Thanks to the bar staff & caterers for looking after us well as usual. Thanks also to Golf World, Cairns for sponsoring the event.

The results of today's round are below. The full results of the 2 day Championship will be posted when Captain Greg has been through the cards with a fine tooth comb, which will probably take several days.

NB When the full results are posted for the 70 & over & 75 & over categories, some people may notice they are in the wrong age group as not all the dates of birth we have on record are accurate. In that case, please contact Greg or myself to advise your real date of birth so we can make the necessary adjustments.

Next game is at Atherton on 20 August, & is another stroke round as it will make up the three games required for the Stanton Bailey trophy.

PS   I have heard that at Mareeba a member had a whinge to the lady at the bar about a couple of issues quite outside her control. This is not only bad manners but quite cowardly, as staff are not in a position to make an appropriate response. If anyone has a complaint on any matter at any of the clubs we play at, it should be made to the club Manager, or to a committee member who can take it up with the relevant person in authority at the club.
