President's Report

A good field of 112 men & 22 ladies turned up for the first round of the FNQVGA Championships at Mareeba to a course in fine condition with all new greens in play, plenty of run on the fairways & perfect weather. Congratulations to the greens staff & volunteers.

Thanks to Raylene for looking after us well as usual with sandwiches & at the bar. Thanks also to Golf World, Cairns for sponsoring the event.

Welcome to visitors Albert Smith of Albury Commercial, Colin Hands of Wundowie & Peter Buckman of Yallourn & to new member John Gregan of half Moon Bay. Our membership for the year now stands at 304.

The full results of the first round of the Championship will be available at registration next week, but the best 10 in each grade will be posted to this blog shortly. If you don't see your name in either list, it may be that you were not eligible to play in the Championship rounds, but still qualified for our normal day comp. If you wish to query eligibility, please call Captain Greg Gibb, but as stated in an earlier blog you must have been a financial FNQVGA member for 2 months & played in at least 3 of the games in our program.

Next game is at Cairns on 13 August, which is the second round of our Championships & therefore another stroke round.
